In Qld there are 2 main classes of damaged vehicles at auctions.

A repairable write off gets a blue sticker and can be repaired and re registered. It must be inspected privately by a qualified inspector (not Queensland Transport) and certified safe, usually costs about $600 or more for inspection.

The second class is a Statutory Write Off, gets a red sticker and VIN is noted on the Written Off Vehicle Register or WOVR. These can never be re registered and are for wrecking only.

If your car has no sticker on the windscreen you can just fix it yourself, get a Safety Certificate and register it.
