The original intent of "Baby on Board" signs, was to alert emergency services and others that if the vehicle was in an accident, fire or rollover there may be a not easily seen baby in the vehicle that needs to be rescued. Emergency services and others originally promoted the use these signs. Unfortunately and sadly, too many people now think it means "drive carefully near me as I have a baby in my car".
