Angry Outrageous letters to Royal Auto

I got the latest issue of Royal Auto (a free mag for RACV members) and in the feedback section, where some letters form public are printed two made my blood boil.

One suggestion to reduce fuel usage on modern cars would be to program the computer to only allow a certain number of litres per 100km through the system. My Falcon indicates to me the litres/100km as I drive. When I accelerate it can go up to 39L/100km and when I cruise it generally goes to about 6L.100km, my average is 9.3L/100km. I have manually been testing to keep this figure around 10L/100km and found that all this does is reduce the acceleration of my car. If you could set the maximum litres/100km to be used, I think you'd be able to drastically reduce fuel consumption. Listen to talk back radio. I heard a guy saying that all drivers under 35 should have their cars limited to 2000rpm, because it's RPM not speed that causes acceleration and racing.

I pity the fool stuck behind an 86 Corolla limited to 2000rpm.

Funnily enough, I can do 110km/h in both cars and still be under the 2000RPM limit here. It would make bugger all difference in a high speed crash.
These people obviously don't think things all the way through.

Yep, you can do about 130kmh in 6th gear on an SS.

I heard plenty of things saying that P platers shouldn't be allowed anywhere near powerful V6's. By powerful V6's they mean Falcodores.

RACV is hilarious. There was an article about B-Doubles and the driver said he keeps getting cut off by people in little cars, who don't realise that their 1 tonne tin cans would get crushed by his 40tonne rig.

There was a letter or two complaining that RACV was condoning the criticism of their members by publishing a truckie referring to their cars as tin cans.

The letters are the first thing I read. They're awesome. I'd love to see the roads if they became legislators.

Same with me.
Last night I took the issue with me to "my favorite reading room" : and quickly checked for Falcons, then straight to the letters and the second letter I read was the one I posted as first.
My blood boiled and just couldn't read any more.

These people have no idea that if it happens to be me in the following car and they accelerate that slowly and never reach the speed allowed I'll drag them out of their cars and &$&@* the S41T out of them- in my imagination of course :

I quit my membership with the RACT (tasmania) as they kept putting out statements asking for speed limits to be lowered. I dont find them to be a group that represents drivers at all, Im not surprised the letters in their mag reflects that

limiting l/100km is a well thought out plan.

you're on the highway behind a b double doing 100. its a 110 zone. i wonder how long you would have to be on the wrong side of the highway to overtake the truck.

you get up alongside the cab when suddenly a car appears that you didn't see only a couple hundred metres away. foot down.... oh no i've reached my acceleration limit.... d'oh!

Is this guy on crack? He clearly doesn't drive on the same freeways I do. Traffic becomes a nightmare at ever bloody roadworks section as you end up with some slowing right down and some just ignoring the signs all together. : :

lol. Running stupidly lean does the engine the world of good :

As for the second bloke, I've found roadworks make traffic flow much worse, plus the EA is awesome on the freeway anyway, terrible around town. Driving 10km under the speed limit does nothing but annoy people. Let's hope that bloke isn't also a right lane hogger.
