Hey Mark, where are they proposing this to go, and this also looks very similar to the one they had proposed for Derrimut many years ago before the new locals stareted to complain about possible noise.

LOL now they have factories and trucks every day instead of races once a week hahaha

Dont know where its going.
As for the Derrimut one the only reason that fell over was developers offered up a very large some of cash, there was 10 people involved and the money was to much to say no..

Funny story about that.

Developers were in a bidding war with the "proposed drag racers". The drag racers got in fist and the housing developers were playing hard ball with there bids, so they moved around a bit of dirt, the developers freaked and put in an un refusable offer

Hope this goes through, might have to build a straight line car.

So no doubt then the developers would have had something to do with the complaints from people buying lots in the new housing estate as from what I was always made aware the council stopped it. Anyone else hear about corruption in a certain council that sits not far from there hahaha

Almost forgot they also now have a freeway that runs right by them, they really fell for it lock and stock.

I became a fan of the facebook page. I'm curious too as to where it will be located. Where about's could it be located that wouldn't be potential housing development land but still being relatively close to Melbourne? It would have to be further up North to be central to both Eastern and Western suburbs.

make sure you enter for the car show/protest in Feb too. gives a rough location on the site, between Melb and Avalon but says they are still looking at it

C'mon werribee, right next to the factory.

Well put it this way, it couldnt be any closer then werribee south doe to all the housing and zoo. So it will be somewhere between outer werribee south and avalon which is about a 10-15 minute drive and a 35 minute drive from the west gate bridge,

Agreed, I have run a closed thread in PUB with a link to Daves thread, see post 9 Dave has it covered this is the most important 1st step we must have huge numbers there in support not big it needs to be huge, we must send a message we want this, and we want it asap... tell everyone.
I copied his link
MOTORVATE MELBOURNE Public Rally and Car Show together at the Melbourne Show Grounds on Saturday 20th February 2010

Thanks to Shannnons Car Insurance and all the ANDRA Pro Series Drag Racing Sponsors for helping with this project so it could be FREE for all motor enthusiasts and the public. The Shannons Australian Drag Racing Road show is also part of the 'MOTORVATE MELBOURNE' Public Rally.

Make sure you do your bit and encourage the Government to proceed urgently.

Date Saturday 20th February 2010
Gates open a 6.00am
Public entry opens at 10.00am
Show closes at 5.00pm

I'll be going to the Show Grounds on the 20th, not sure if i'll be driving or not funnily enough.

Are there any intentions of getting a FF.au group together for this event/show & shine?

is there any caravan parks/cheap motels near the showgrounds? Need room for a trailer so park would be more likely?

Actually I think I know where it might be, not much chance of future housing either, unless they remove Avalon airport, right next door there is about 120ha up for tender at the moment. Already on a flight path so noise isn't a huge restriction, 10 minutes past werribee and 10 minutes from Geelong, not a bad spot if that's it.

As spooly mentioned the location won't please everyone but it needs to be at a location where it won't interfere with housing development, and the traffic in the east is always bad. Once you get off eastlink it can still take a long time.

If near Avalon it will be further out than Calder, but probably just as quick if not quicker if coming off the Westgate as you go straight down the Geelong Freeway, instead of backtracking back up the ring rd then onto the Calder.

Hopefully the venue will be similar to the pic on the poster, good memories of Calder when there were frequent top fuel meets, nats every year. Before it turned sour anyway.
