Default New headlights from 'The Dok'

Hi all,

After getting sick of one or the other of my headlights going yellow/faded, I decided to take the plunge with some headlights from the Dok - with blacked out bezels!

For anyone out there thinking of buying the crappy ones from Taiwan or ebay, please give them a wide birth and give serious consideration to contacting the Dok. His headlights (and support) are first class.

without further ado....

Here are some before and after pics of the ute:-

before:

after:

some green led's added in for parkers:

Getting some serious light now!

Did the tail lights too whilst I was at it: - NB: not from The Dok

before:-

after:-

Thanks very much to The Dok for all the help (and out of hours support!!).
All I can say is that I am very happy with the quality of the headlights, lenses, look and improvement in vision at night.

Let me know what you all think! rice or nice.

Cheers.

Tis a sweet looking ute mate. Definately not rice, just nice!
Thanks for the wrap too!
The RH "after" headlight pic is shrouded in what appears to be cloud cover making it look different to the LH side but obviously it is exactly the same.
Any chance of a low down shot of the front?? :

Gotta love the seats

Interior too

My new Avatar I think:-

Dok - not sure what you mean - do you want a top down shot from above the headlights?

Not exactly, what I mean is a shot (squatting or on ya knees) more level with the headlights, preferably with no cloud cover above, indoors or at sunset should achieve good results.
Just to highlight the black bezels, the effect seems sort of lost with the clouds above. Not to take anything away from the pics, the ute sure is a nice piece of work, but I like to take my shots @dusk, really brings out the best results.

yeah, I noticed the same thing in the photo - sun was rising over to the left of the shot at that time. headlights are identical looking though in terms of clarity etc. Will get a pic at dusk tomorrow then.

Did Dok do your tail lights as well, or did you buy different ones and put them in yourself? I'm after the same tail lights for my van.. Couldn't post a cost could you? Cheers.

PS. I reckon you should get the indicators done too.. With all of it matching it would look rad.

I agree, the indicators have gotta be next.

If you are looking for taillights - just do a search for "xh falcon" on ebay - there are a whole new heap of them just come on the market - some look puss but others are pretty nice. The ones I got were- from the seller called "promessecommerce" - there are other on there but they are just clear - not tinted as well. The quality is not that good. I'm thinking of sending one back because the glue is coming away already.

Dok, any idea why my indicators would be flashing twice as fast since putting an led globe in the rear indicator socket??

Not really, just put the std 1 back in & if it doesn't do it, then you know it's the LED, without seeing the actual set-up I'd guess the LED's aren't compatible, usually when indicators flash fast, it's an indication (pardon the pun) that a bulb is not working. I've never been a fan of non genuine (aftermarket) lights & even less of an e-bay fan, I was chatting to another member/customer last week & he had major issues with E-bay LED bulbs & ended up removing them. Also, if the tail-light lenses are seperating, this will allow moisture in, which will lead to constant blown bulbs, better act fast & return it/them for a better made (if possible) item.

the reason your indicators flash fast is because the LED doesnt have the same wattage as the std globe. this will act like a globe is out. and make the indicators flash fast. you should get it fixed as fast flashing indicators are not roadworthy , indicators have a minimum and maximum allowable amount of flashes per minute

might be as simple as just fitting a resistor inline somewhere

This will be because LED's draw far less power than standard globes. Therefore the Flasher Can thinks the globe is blown, as the standard flasher can's are load sensing. So it flashes twice as fast to warn you. You can get Non-Load Sensing Flasher cans that will eliminate this issue. Narva make quite a few. When you order one just give your make and model, and request a NON-Load sensing or one for LED use.

Those lights look great... I may have to invest in a set for the NF... are they a polycarb based lens as per the OEM part? or a proper glass lens that wont go yellow?

don't kike the kit, but that's just me, i HATE aftermarket kit's on any car.
don't like the bonnet vents.
don't like the rims, or the ride height.

if that was my ute, i would have put the money that you spent on the kit, into the better rims and lowering.

people spend way too much on excess plastic that is NOT required.

Full credit with the seats, Steering wheel and the hard top.
they look great.

But it's "each to their own"

it's just my opinion remember.

i know it's just your opinion, but you seem to be on a bashing binge at the moment in a couple of threads i've seen. steady on.

ute looks great, very unique. oh and those clear tail lights are THE ONLY clear tail lights on ANY CAR that i don't mind

They are genuine FORD assemblies, not Taiwanese rubbish -,- There never has, nor ever will be glass lenses for this (or any other locally built Ford from 1994), it's an ADR now that all locally produced passenger cars have polycarbonate headlight lenses to reduce pedrestrian injuries. _2:

Not technically correct - the EF, EL and AU XR models all had glass lenses.

True that but sourced from Hella Germany (to be more precise). As opposed to locally manufactured (Braeside Vic) Hella headlights EF/L AU (non XR), BA/F. My guess is on the EF/L-AUXR models, due to setback of the headlights within the bar, they get around the ADR's regarding pedestrian impact.
Well picked up though, it was my day off when I posted that.

Hey,
Looking nice.
Just a couple of quick questions:
What springs have you got in the ute?
Superlows? If so how do you go with speedbumps and what not especially with the venom bar?

And also,
Where did you get the mesh for the front bar.
The bottom section?

Thanks for all the comments guys...

co8ra:-
I've seen you headlight covers and they look fantastic. I was thinking of getting headlight covers for mine and tinting them black on the insides (after seeing yours) to cover up the ugly old lights but decided to get these new ones from the Dok in the end. If you are thinking of getting LED parker's for yours, go the "Super LED" sets - you can get these from autobarn - a bit pricey though.

Venomous:-
I have pedders sports suspension in the front and lowering blocks in the back (springs reset) - they are not superlows - she is actually originally a one tonner - so going too low in the front would have meant major stuffing around in the rear end.

I'm glad I didn't go any lower. It parks perfectly on parking spots that have the concrete wheel stoppers at the front with about a centimeter or so to spare. Perfect. The front bar has taken a bit of damage underneath but this has usually been on steep driveways.

Speed humps are not a problem at all - I just go slow - if you hit anything to fast or brake too suddenly at the last minute then the forward momentum of the car is enough to lower it that little bit extra to scraping point.

The mesh in the front bar was custom made to fit. Black wire frame with black mesh welded to it with mounting brackets. A very good job was done of it and it gets alot of comments.

Usually, I am not a fan of clear tail lights at all but I've seen a couple of photos of these utes with the tails blacked out and they always looked good. The whole theme of the car is green and black/tint so they ended up looking alright IMO.

Thanks again everyone for the feedback. :

Cheer smate, i would prefer them as jsut a extra light in the indicator - to light up the cobra instead of the gay orange indicator light (for at shows and when parked at night)

I actually don't mind those taillights. I usually don't like Altezza-style, but with the simple square shape, it doesn't look too bad.
