i never really liked silver , but My Au was too gooda a car to pass up, on the other hand at 12 years old with a good wash and tidy up it hides it`s scars well and still looks the ducks nuts, even when it`s dirty is does`nt look too bad, and some times being a bit bland/ blending in makes for trouble free motoring.

Personally I don't like white on cars. That's for commercial vehicles. I have always thought owners choose white as they can't decide on which real colour to get. Just like black, is white really a colour anyway?

I've really come around to white the last few years. It looked rubbish years ago when cars had black or grey door handles, mirrors, and bumpers etc. But these days a white car can look awesome - especially with some big black rims.

Cant stand silver though. Any car in silver, no matter what the make, looks about half its value i reckon

Well think again! My parents have always chosen white because it's a safer colour. Easier to see in all situations.

I've grown to like it on our wagon a lot. I'd like to do a few things to bring out how good white can be...

Depends on the car... Camrys and Corollas ive never liked in white...

For the 2 minutes a black car is completley clean especially at night surrounded by the city lights, nothing looks better.

if i went for the XR6 instead of the G6E, i probably would of got one in sunburst its a really nice colour.

I don't like grey or silver. They are sterile to no end.

Black is conditional and very much seasonal for me.

My XC was a personal choice and one years later that I find myself not regretting at all. People saying you can't miss white, well, you can't miss Raw Orange either! I just can't go past a factory orange Falcon and not think how good it looks (other than XD's, but I won't go there...). The only exception would be Blood Orange for me, it's so-so, but still likable.

Ahh, young blokes. When you need to be seen, only the brightest colours will do. If it's grey, it's gay. Silver is bland. White belongs on fridges and delivery trucks. Black is boring. And so on. No offence intended, but as soon as I read the thread title I assumed it was started by a teenager and I was not surprised to see that you are in fact 16, Grinzy. I've found that you grow out of the "look at me" phase quickly. That's not to say that I personally do not like bright colours, I love some of the "look at me" colours that Ford makes. However, these days I lean towards a classier style of car. The bright ones look nice, but they are rarely a classy look - and there's nothing wrong with that, different strokes for different folks. Tex's GT is a textbook example of a car done right (in my opinion, of course), it's not obnoxious, just pure class, take note gents.

My very first road registered car was a Platinum Gold VN, easy to keep it clean, always looks classy and depending on the body style suits most vehicle. Exhibit A CASHMERE BF FAIRMONT GHIA & FG G6E with cream leather.

One colour I will never buy again is RED!! Unless I don't intend owning the car once it's 5 years old or more.

I own 2 RED cars, one by choice, and one because at the time I needed a new work car ASAP and at the auction I went to the red one was in the best nick.

Both cars are left outside and red seems to have a life of 5 years before fading when left in the sun. My 03 car started fading at 5, any my 06 the same. If I polished them as often as they needed it to keep shiny I'd have no paint left.

When I purchased my XR5T it was either moondust silver, sea grey or fridge white. I picked white because it's easy to look after and rarely looks dirty. I've had reds and blues doubt I'll own one again.

My 'rap' sheet contains 2 x white cars, and a Silver.
As well as Everglade Green, Cobalt Blue, Vermillion Fire.

Though all time favourites are Calypso Green, Electric Blue, Lime Glaze, and Yellow Glow.

So - I feel that I'm not into the 'bland' colours as the OP put it. Each to their own.

I thought this thread was going to bash people who go out and order a new car, have the choice of nearly any colour they want, and then they choose 'champagne' or a metallic beige colour. Have never been able to understand this.

Ill agree with this
White is a colour ill never have,it makes the car look cheap
Well it is the cheapest colour ....
All my cars are darkish metallic , and there not for those who cant maintain a decent colour
They show up all imperfections, and are a PITA to look after

If it was up to me all my cars would be black.
I think it looks great and it not bland at all.

Unfortunately for my current car I couldn't find one in black I wanted. I have grey and I like it. Might be a bland colour, but looks good on the car.

Some great comments guys.
Different strokes for different folks !
It also depends on the cars.

Sometimes u want a bit of stealth.
My daily XR8 (kinda agree with the silver is classy comment).

But there are times when u want stand out from the crowd, so u get another car that says look at me , look at me.
My 68 stang/weekend cruiser

'bland' doesn't look dated.

a White VY SS still looks good/modern, a Hot House green one looks dated as hell.

Some colours just don't age well, a lot of the time they are 'hero colours' like tiga mica or hot house green, traditional colours like red seem to be a good in between choice.
