nope, i'm with russ on this one. it is a change in the rules. 20yrs ago when i got my licence, the rule was, give way to those on the right. the rule is now as you state, but it was changed around 2006 i think. can't be sure.
to me, the rule now means exactly the same thing except worded differently. when approaching a roundabout, vehicles entering to your left will be gone before you get to them anyway unless they are a long vehicle, and no one in their right mind would drive into the side of a vehicle already there.
also, technically, if you collide with a car that entered to your left, given the distances travelled, unless one was travelling MUCH faster, the car on the right will always enter before the one on the left.
