Probably put it into drive instead of reverse and gave it a bit too much boot

A little sad due to the development and time gone into these cars some people need to show a little more heart. . . . Better than a rust bucket
How was that a stat right off, without seeing total extent of damage that car could be repaired and be on its way. Unless the engine has damage aswell. Sums up the people of this disposable generation, "Its broken throw it away". . . . |

theres cars on there that are repairable write offs that dont even look that bad!

They write off cars for bugger all nowadays.
When there was a massive hail storm in nearby Blackwater a few years back, the car transporters ran hot for weeks with write offs. One of the guys I work with had a six month old Hilux twin cab ute, a higher-spec model, as a lease vehicle. He had his Hilux under a carport beside his house, and the only hail damage was a few dents on the rear side of the body and rear drivers side door, as well as a broken window on that door from a big piece of ice that ricocheted off a post and went through the window. There was maybe one or two small dents on the drivers door too, but he had to point them out. A few days later we saw it going past on a car transporter (it was bright red and very noticeable). We asked him about it the next time we saw him, and he said that it was a stat write off! He didn't care, as he was getting a new replacement lease car out of it. ...and we wonder why our insurance premiums are so high...someone at the auctions got a great deal... |

Looking at the pictures the whole cars is bent out of shape. Look at the motor pic and you can see the motor has moved to the left. Also Airbags have popped a few grand each airbag.
Insurance company will write the car off at around 70% of the value on the car. I would say this car has suffered major structural damage due to the engine being moved, causing the whole car to bend. |

Replacement engines from FPV would be stupidly high too. Didn't some guy blow one up last year due to a dodgy tune, and it cost him like 20k just to buy a replacement engine from FPV?

Probably a dealer initiative to get rid of unwanted stock.
At least that's one more car that Ford need to build now as a replacement, gotta keep those production lines busy!

My dough's on a test drive, with dealer in passenger seat - in the wet.
Possibly an immovable object, such as a telegraph pole......

The question is would you really want it back if it were your car, especially after copping such a wallop and with only a 100 kms on the clock :( I have had a couple of cars written off in the past with what looked like minimal damage, but once they started looking deeper is when they found more serious defects which really shouldn't be repaired and luckily for me they weren't

Recently saw a mint FGI GT on Carpoint, blah..blah..one careful owner, strictly one driver, etc etc, then a shot of the driver's cloth door insert with BIRO SCRIBBLE on it!!!!!! Yes, i did cringe, and imagined a sales person writing down the kms, and operating the windows, with biro strategically perched between fingers of same hand - a precipice function..... will try to find the link: here it is, what a horney looking car! http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/...-12661521&Cr=4

I reckon you could get that biro mark off the leather...or at least fade it a little.
Agree that high performance car and low performance driver are probably to blame...ouch either way. Does knowing that the engine took a hit make you sus about the block being at risk of cracking at all? The driveline taking a hit could also have bent something....you never know. Wonder what it will sell for? |

speaking to a few insurance assessors they are not getting the quality of work out of panel beaters like they should and that is part of the reason too. after having a bad experience with a panel beater recently i can see why |

Give me a body with all parts still attached, no side effects and no hospital bills any day over a smashed up readily available, striped supercharged GT. Now if it were a Shelby GT I would have to re-think my options!

Hard to tell from the photos, but the shut lines along the doors look OK as do the roof rails etc. Might be OK. If the doors don't close properly or there's any creasing in the roof/top rails etc, then run for the hills.
I reckon those who've mentioned a test drive mishap are on the money. Must be said though, apparently a lot of expert drivers on this forum who've evidently never put a foot wrong in their driving lives. You should start your own driving school. If it was indeed a drive test error, who has ever taken a car for a test drive and not given it a bit of the old size 10? Goes without saying doesn't it? Perhaps a slightly slick road surface, the rest is history. |
