It looks like it wont be long before cars are fully driving themselves, the self parking in a tight spot looks good, perhaps not so for the driver next to you, probably end up with a very dented up focus from parking in close proximity to others.

When are these manufacturers going to understand that there's no avoidance system better than an alert driver.

You can put all the electronic crap into a car that you want but it's worth nothing if the drivers "home without the lights on"!!!

I don't even like the basic traction control in my AU2, I'm in the habit now of deactivating it the moment I get in, but now & then I forget & more than once it's left me in the middle of an intersection with no power after a wheel gives the slightest slip!

Manufacturers are attempting to engineer around the fact that most vehicles are not fitted with an alert driver at any given time.

Obstacle Avoidance Technology, formally known as Hand Eye Coordination....

Eye coordination is the ability that you can do a job with the use of you eyes, hands, and feet at the same time. The best example to make it easier to understand is driving a car, when your driving your car you are coordinating your eyes (observing the surroundings) hands and feet in order to manoeuvre the vehicle safely.

Obviously as the human race evolves we are gradually finding ways so as not to rely on human ability, pretty soon we will have to look at the replacing the term "Evolve" with something less grandiose.......

That's right, a long time ago humans decided to train horses to do the job of long distance travelling instead of using their human legs. Then the automobile replaced the horse and we now frequent internet forums that celebrate this technological achievement for mankind (such as AFF).

Sure, pushing technology forward will inevitably cause laziness in the minds and bodies of humans. So what's the alternative? If forward is bad, is backward then good?..
