Can anyone explain how club rego works in Victoria. Currently if I register all the toys at once I'm looking at about $3500 per year just in rego.
I'm wondering what restrictions there are on the use of the car. How much does club rego cost etc? |

What sort of cars are you looking at?
SR Plates cost about $108 a year. Restrictions are fairly tight. Mainly to advertised car events, local testing, repairs. |

SR Plates are Street Rod rego in a way. There are plenty of other cars than hot rods on this scheme. Its worth a try mate. All you have to do is be a current member of the ASRF.

i'm not sure about vic, but here in qld the rules are quite strict. commonly refered to as club rego, special interest rego is only applicable to cars 30 years or older. all the normal road worthy requirements apply with exception to original fitted equipment and right hand drive requirements.
i think you need to be a current financial member of an applicable club, which may have it's own membership conditions. you are restricted with the types of activities you can undertake too. the vehicle can only be used on club sanctioned runs/ shows, to perform road tests within a certain distance from home, transport to and from a worshop or similar for repairs to be undertaken. the vehicle may be used for some formal/ wedding type occasions, but guidelines do apply and a fee cannot be charged. if you contact the transport authority locally they should be able to provide a more accurate answer for you. hope this helps.

Might be worth checking out the vicroads website because I believe they lay out all the restrictions but as mentioned above it is quite restrictive.
