Quick fuel question?

Hey guys my cousins husband just contacted and is looking at buying a new car after returning home from 3years abroad. He asked me if the G6E which he says is advertised as premium unledead can run regular ULP and what sort of power difference would there be?

Wont be a massive difference in performance but it will carbon up something chronic . 98 RON is worth the extra 15 odd cents a litre .

Unless of course you happen to be in Darwin where 91 ULP is $1.54 c/l. 95 PULP can be purchased for $1.68 c/l. Should you require the top of the range 98 PULP then you pay $1.88 c/l.

Thats 34 c/l difference!

Or if your in Nhulunbuy where that opal rubbish (non sniffable fuel) is $2.something and premium is another 30-40c on top of that... havent needed to fill up here yet, lucky to have plenty left in jerry cans from the drive in, but I'm dreading it.

Oh and theres only 1 servo in town, the next closest is a 700km drive down a dirt road thats not open in the wet season, for those who dont know where it is

Real answer bugger all.

But if the cost of fuel is an issue he has a choice of four engines:
1) EB4, needs PULP but uses less than the other two petrol options.
2) EcoLPi, much cheaper to run but has availability issues away from the main routes and urban areas.
3) I6, will run on anything really
4) T6, goes like a cut cat and gets reasonable economy when not "exercised".

In the big picture a G6E of any type will be 40-50k. Unless he is going to do a LOT of driving, that is more than 30,000km a year, the difference in fuel costs relative to the price of the car is almost irrelevant.

petrol 6 is 195kw standard and about 205kw (exact figure escapes me) on 98ron fuel.

ecoboost 4 i believe will also run on 91RON but will drop down to around 173kw as opposed to 179kw on premium.

there really is bugger all difference.

so in short, yes, the G6E can run on 91RON.

Its not advertised as requiring premium, it is tuned for 91 and 99% of owners would run that, but if you do want to use 95 or 98 then you will get extra power and torque.

But it takes 91 normally.

The G6E Turbo requires 95, sure he's not got them mixed up?
