Why do you only come to this forum to post about plant closures?

Why drown sorrows?
If we're smart, as a country (politicians, companies, employees) we should see this as a wake up call. To realise that our current economy and the basis of it is needing a re think, that we establish industries that we can compete in and develop methods to ensure we can adjust to any changes in climate. We should use the lessons from our vehicle manufacturing as way of what to do in the future and what not to do. The problem is it requires all levels to work together and not just looking after their agendas.

My concern is that other governments through out the world are fighting hard to retain jobs and are looking at taking jobs from other nations, whilst Australia seems to be going the other way. The loss of the Automotive industry will impact other industries.

What will fill the gaps, you talk of re-stablishing industries, but who operate and train these people. Once a skill set is lost where will the training come from and investment etc.

We get legislation and investors to help with forming the basis and goes from there. How do you think we established car making in the first place? We need forward thinkers and the problem with this country is we have none or the ones we do have are silenced. Everyone is far too concerned about criticising others without looking at themselves in the mirror. We've taken one path that was fought hard for, it doesn't work, let's try something else.
