If Nissan doesn't survive, Toyota will have the LandCruiser segment all to itself.

Mitsubishi is also part of the alliance.

If we go back far enough, I suppose one could say the European/British makers dominated the market, then the Americans, and then Nissan et al rode the Japanese wave. Toyota rode that wave to a position of global importance, the others really only clung on.

They were first challenged by the improved quality of Korean offerings, and newly affordable "Europeans", and now China is swamping the market.

Just like everything else. All our computers, tvs, etc, are made in China, it was only a matter of time before the vehicle market followed.

China, which itself is the biggest polluter in the world, has conned the rest of us that we need to save the planet by buying EVs, meanwhile they've been steaming ahead with EV development and production.

I'm not up to speed but why does Renault selling down it's ownership % and it's not all
of their holding they are selling at the moment, put Nissan at risk?

Would you say the 400z is anymore parts bin than the S650?!

I hope they bring the new Patrol before shutting shop. I really like the new Patrol on paper.

If I was in the market for that type of Vehicle, I would go for the current model. I believe it is not a good idea buying the first release of a new vehicle.
The current vehicle is well sorted and has a great engine.

Oh it's pretty cheap and nastily slapped together, also torque limited massively because probably has drive line components made out of used prophylactics

A friend bought one recently and can't stop singing its praises. Haven't gone into huge detail on them but from the owner's reaction, I figured it was enough of a so l step up from the 370z (like the s650)

There’s an aftermarket solution for the Y62 infotainment centre console upright the same as Infiniti QX80 which looks 100x better than what Nissan has offered.
Unsure why they didn’t fit this for their half arsed update last year, fitting that touch screen in the Patrol dash looks worse and more out of place than a crack heads double din hash job on his VZ Commodore or AU Falcon.

The Alliance is a very complicated deal. All 3 companies remain separate, traded, public companies. With Nissann and Renault cross-holding stakes in each-other, and Nissan owning around a 3rd of Mitsubishi.
They are all equal partners in the alliance, and supposedly the shareholder acts to keep them all acting in mutual best interests.

Collectively, the Alliance is a big player.

I guess the concern is that Renault is cooling on the Alliance, and may seek to unwind their participation

I saw that but still the same old cluster. Honestly, I've just become so used to having the speed in front of me as a number that looking at angles on a dash is cumbersome for daily driving. Especially with the draconian speed laws these days.

Fair enough. It belongs in the 2000s, probably a good $20k overpriced.

It's still a lot of car for the money but yeah, the cluster is garbage. Even FG that came in the late 2000's has had a digital speed readout. Total joke on a circa $100k car.
