EcoBoost and V6 Mustangs will be fine in Australia as long as they are priced accordingly ...

Its not cheap to get them certified... Mustang motorsport does a pretty good job, gotta remember they have to charge Luxury Car tax on them too!! That blows the price out!

There are several UK motoring journos writing about the impending V8 models. I do not see any reason why they will not be available here.

As far as the $120k.

$20k of that is LCT.

Then there is the cost of compliance, designing and fabricatiing all the necessay components and of cource actually getting the car here.

Then there is the cost of employing all the people who work for the company as they probably want to be paid every week rather than just after the car is sold.

It all adds up.

I had a friend who bought in a GT500 last year and while the conversion was not cheap mustang motor sport have to get lots of trims etc made to make it all happen... I have pictures of the car through the process and they basically stripped it down to nothing. Just little things like the headlights, reflectors are setup for LHD, you have to change them... That sort of stuff means brand new headlights.. THe dash board was the next issue. while I think they still use the original they have to get all new plastics manufactured. That sort of stuff is costly especially if you want it to look OEM.

This thread isn't about the Mustang, it's about a post 2016 Falcon discussion.

I cannot see why they wouldn't sell the V8 in RHD versions, it makes no sense whatsoever to sell a vehicle with a massive reputation as a V8 not being available with it. Everyone knows the Mustang is a V8, despite it coming as a V6 and soon to be Ecoboost 4.

Still relevent, if the Falcon's fate lays in the Mustang...

If Australia can gain the RHD production of the Mustang, alongside a RWD sedan (that the mustang is said to share a platform with)...then its win win.

Maybe it will be Mustang going global with the benefit of supporting Falcon, and then Falcon for the support of RWD Lincolns.

Yuck. Making a four-door Mustang would be as stupid as making a FWD Mustang.

I was thinking about this today, and can't understand why, instead of losing this unique within Ford platform (4 door RWD sedan/ute), instead why don't Ford do the smart thing and capitalize on it and use it. They want to stick to common platforms across vehicles with identically configured drivetrains ie FWD, RWD, AWD, 4, 6 or 8 etc, and the Falcons platform is not shared with anything else, nore is the configuration. So use it and keep this unique setup, it can't be replaced like for like with anything else.

Who said E8 was going anywhere, there is no new platform as 2015 Mustang is still on evolved S197.

At the moment, FNA is developing a new FWD/AWD Taurus for themselves and China,
what if they put our E8 Falcon side by side with it and instead of developing a new platform,
they look at all the stuff that can be shared , saving FoA a ton of bucks through co-development?

The above is only a theory.
but I'm sure a lot of people can see how that cooperation could help Australia and keep costs under control...

I'll believe it when I see it.

Any form of announcement will still probably be a few years away at least before they go public with it.

Internally i've heard nothing about any bigwigs arriving.

Well it's only the emissions holding the 2014 update back from remaining on sale until around 2018 or whenever the product becomes stale in the marketplace.

Until there's more clarification on that, anything post 2016 really can't be taken at face value.

Press release for the Transit... but how does that relate to the Falcon?

Maybe this part does:
Quote:
Under the hood, the Transit will replace the thirsty V8 and V10 engines from the E-Series with a trio of smaller engines aimed at improving fuel economy without sacrificing capability. The base engine is the 3.7-liter V6 that is able to run on E85, but Ford also designed it to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid propane gas (LPG).
LPG 3.7L V6... hmmm....

I believe the Us is more geared towards CNG than LPG, nevertheless its still there in the press release and we already knew the LPi development had more work centred on the vehicle integration than the engine.

Some combination of the two then? Didn't know the Yanks had LPG facilities.

There's a possibility that some of that development work was carried over from the Falcon V6 program, as there was an LPG variant. They would have done at least a year or 2 of development on it before the program was axed.

Thinking about it more... I believe it could utilise the old Venturi system. No one wants that to follow EcoLPi.

Whilst we have your attention, is there anything you can share about post 2016 Falcon/ Manufacturing? Or even a guide of when something will be made public?

Thank you.

Sorry Joe, but no. Our position is still the same as it's always been - we're looking forward to the updated Falcon and Territory in 2014, which we announced earlier this year, which takes those two vehicles out until the end of 2016 and are investigating what happens after that. We haven't put a timeframe on when we'll have anything further to say either.
