Well touting it as a truck is just keeping up with the popular description used today, I thought I had always had Landcruiser tray back utes, but apparently I thought wrong according the 4WD mags and forums of late.......it's a truck!....

Americanisation.........

I imagine Ford are looking for a different audience for their cars than the (traditional) V8 Supercars watcher.

I get the feeling Ford will be trying to position themselves closer to a semi-premium brand like VW in the near future, as opposed to a competitor to Holden. Focus is compared more against Golf than Cruze; Fiesta to Polo rather than Barina; Ranger to Amarok rather than Colorado.

Yeah I see your point. And who has been more successful? VW or Holden? Clearly VW - I think Ford have just done their research and aren't hoeing at a wrong line that won't go through as successfully.

Sure they've disappointed a lot of Falcon fans, but in reality we are just incidental to Ford's long term strategic plans. On the positive sides, Falcons will start being more unique - a stand out car..something that will go down in History and we will be proud to say we've owned one. I would rather that than the Falcon going downhill and turning into a 'camery' type car with V6's and the affect of 'Americanisation' design influence.

Just like the Americans had been using the SUV term for some years while many here were puzzled as to what was 'sports' about them. But slowly the SUV term started to be used here as well due mainly to the manufacturers here calling them that, and is now a commonly used term here for those vehicles.

Thats right. What's so 'sport' about them?

I come from an age where sport cars were quite a different vehicle.
