I've seen all sorts of driver's act like lunatics in high powered cars of course. Most ironic thing I've ever seen on the roads was a black vz ss ute with your regulation THOR sticker and a southern cross sticker. Real Patriotic but not patriotic enough to leave the Holden badge on. The flog replaced it with a Chevy bowtie!!!! MORON!!!

Nice generalisation there, but I guess it is in tune with the thread......

I followed one today with the "F*&K You family" sticker on the back, followed by a picture of a lifted fourby running them down. Only problem was he drove around every corner at near on walking speed due to the height of the thing. Also accelerated so slowly I doubt he could have run down a pensioner with a zimmer frame.

Once a week I make a trek of 300+ km to do the weekly shop for food and I get tail gated by all sorts, but the vast majority are commodore drivers. I do the left foot brake and right foot accelerate trick but most continue to tail gate.

The one thing that gets more people to back off is my exhaust. For some reason, it seems people associate the loud deep thunder of a v8 at WOT as an absolute weapon of speed when in actually fact most late model cars wont have any issue over taking me even if I was to challenge them. I just cruise at the speed limit and when being tail gated I tend to drop 5 km/h and then on the odd occasion drop it down a couple of gears and plant my foot if they just continue to to sit behind me.

1 thing I do do if I do have some one behind me regardless of if they are tail gating or not is drive to the left side of my lane. That is mainly because where I live to overtake you need to go on the wrong side of the road, so I try to give them as clear view as I can so they have a chance to over take if they chose even if its legal for them to do so or not.

Hey all, in regards for the replies about moving over to let them pass I
was in the left lane of a 4 lane highway, to move further over I would be
off the road, they had 3 other lanes to choose from if they wanted to
do over the 110 kph speed limit, which I was doing in regards to that
reply, and as the news had already stated police were out in force for
the Christmas holidays these brain dead dipsticks apparently had no idea
as to how to keep it safe with a lot of traffic around. Maybe they don't
have any regard to other people or families. Wonder how they would
feel if a tailgater caused an accident on the highway killing their sister
or brother. Bet they would feel different then. Then maybe not.?

Firstly I put in a similar thread on a 4WD forum that I used to post on. Boy did I get flamed big time! I copped an idiot in a jacked up GQ Patrol right up my clacker in the left lane. I named and shamed the club that was posted all over the truck...... We're not happy.

But I digress.

In my old Cruiser if I was in the left lane or doing the speed limit on a one lane road and being tailgted I'd slow down. Quickly. I could afford to do this cause I had a large steel rear bumper so their plastic fantastics will come of second best. Most people got the message. If they over took and tried to return the favour then the Lightforce spotties were powerful enough to ruin their day.

Now I'm not condoning this behaviour at all and with me it was a rare occurrence. Sometimes I just got sick of being tailgated in the left lane and enough was enough.

With the Ford I can't do this. I just gradually slow down till im dead on the speed limit, or a few clicks below it.

Rear fog lights were invented for tailgaters. I just turn mine on and off randomly if someone is tailgating me. They back of about half the time.

Commodores drivers seam to be slightly over represented in the ******** driver awards. But you can usually spot the ones of are halfwits from a mile away. But that goes for most cars.

Since my 300c is out of action, I have been driving the missus Echo lately, and have to say so many more people tailgate, pull out and push in front of me when I'm in the Echo.

Yeh same thing happens when I drive the Rio. When you're in a small car, suddenly you don't exist on the road or are irrelevant.

We ALL have that spirit in us that we want to race & beat everything on the road. I've said it before that it's inherited in us from a young age that hooning, burnouts & just generally being a tool behind the wheel is "fun"!

I have one of those holden ute drivers in my street. A "P" plater with an SS ute.
I thought that it was illegal for the young to own high powered cars?

I'm sure the OP would have gladly give his car some stick on the day if it weren't for his family being in the car. That's obviously his mindset, alas this thread!

Someone also mentioned here that when you're in a small car you're "just getting in the way", I find this to be true. My mum drives a Mazda 2, those things actually have some go go but ma's in her fifties. It's just the fact she's got flower stickers on the back that other drivers think she's a teenager! I've had people think it's my g'friends car!!!

I drive my AU2 everywhere but if I want to get passed & tailgated all I have to do is hook up a trailer! Trailer connected=slow therefore I MUST overtake you!!! GET OUTA' MY WAY, YOU'RE SLOWER THAN ME, I'M FASTER THAN YOU, YOU'RE HOLDING ME UP, I HAVE TO GET TO THE SHOP FOR MILK, HURRY UP GODDAMNIT!!!

Got to the lights side by side and gave it a little rev to make it look like I was keen. Light went green and he took off like we were at Bathurst as I proceeded to slowly get off the mark like a grandpa driving a fairlane gets them every time

Yes, half of them really are mad thinking they are driving a Chevrolet.

I'm also wondering, what's the go with Transformer stickers? Do they want us to think they are hu-bots or something? Usually it's young boys with the Transformers stuff.

For those of you who remember Peter Paul and Mary, Paul Stooky was a pretty good comedian.
Part of their live shows featured 'Paultalk', This an edited version, if you get chance to actually listen the the full 12mins dont do it at the computer with a mouthfull of coffee

The words enclosed by <-> are realistic microphone noises made by Paul

If you did manage to get out of the drive-in resturant without being maimed
There was a sporting event taking place at the traffic light
Remember, with all of two characters
Mr. Businessman who drove a 4-door family sedan with black-wall tires
Automatic transmission
Seated next to him in a 1941 gray primer coated Ford
With it's rear end 2 inches off the ground
Tomato cans for mufflers
With his back to the drivers window, his left arm draped over the steering wheel
His right hand gripped onto the gearshift lever
A sneer on lips sat THE KID
<engine revving sound>
Well, Mr. Businessman has just had his bands tightened, and
Those of you who are not quite sure what I mean
By having your bands tightened
The bands are the rings in an automatic transmission
Which actually effect the gear change
Uh huh, I'll give you an example
This is an automobile with tight bands
<car sound with gear shifts>
This is an automobile with loose bands
<car sound with gear shifts, different sound>
Well, Mr. Businessman has just had his bands tightened
And he thinks that he will show THE KID a thing or two
Meanwhile, THE KID <engine revving>
Has inched these 2 fingers up over his left arm
This is the universal signlanguage among teenagers for dragging
You probably recall Winston Churchill during the war years
Which everyone assumed meant V for victory
Actually if you'll also recall Winston Churchill smokes a cigar, right?
He used to hold it in here, right?
And occationally he would turn to his friends on the stage and say
Want a drag?
See, and the kids picked it up
The light changes
The light changes to amber and Mr. Businessman decides to get very daring
He pulls the automatic transmission down into low <clunk>
He puts one foot on the brake <screech>
Still holding the foot on the brake, in order to get that extra fast start
He pulls the automatic transmission down into low <clunk>
And pushes down on the accelerator five inches
The car is internally hemorraging
He knows, he knows, he knows he's gonna have to have another band job
He's not gonna let THE KID show him up
The light changes to green, Mr. Businessman is off
<tire screech>
<engine running fast>
<gear shift>
<gear shift with loose bands>
Looks at the speedometer, 80, 90, 95, 96, 97, 98 miles an hour
Looks out the window and The Kids not even there
You know what's there?
<siren sound>
He looks in the rear view mirror and The Kids still back at the corner
He never races anybody
He just sits there and scares the hell out of them

Seriously how many accidents have you come across after letting one of these "tailgaters" past . Yes they have a bad attitude but sometimes the victim is part of the problem and if they were doing the right thing in the first place we wouldn't be discussing it .
For the life of me I cannot see the drama of moving into the left hand lane and letting them go and as far as single lane roads go ,we all know that every one is petrified of exceeding the speed limit by 15 kmh and Mr. slowboat in front will instantly find an extra 10 kmh to compensate for his lack of manhood in front his wife/kids if they are being overtaken .
