Had a VG with hemi 6, it honked so let's all embrace that!

This new one looks perfect for the type of driving I have seen NSW highway patrol doing on the Hume, had an interceptor appear 2 or 3 ks back when I was overtaking a van! It was in full flight and I only just got into the left lane before the XR6T was screaming past, must have been going somewhere up near 200.

I'm really taken by this. Now work's over I've come back to it, and that just doesn't happen with a car these days. The car expert article has had people pan the styling as out of proportion in the comments (front wheel not at front corner - "The front corner/side angle looks too front heavy… a lot of metal making the wheels look small.")... but you know what, that BMW cue has been done to death in the last 20 years (eg VE) and now this new Dodge looks cool! The whole car does in a way that the muscle of the 1960s did and very few designs have since. It's got a stance to match the resurgent US reindustrialisation and confidence as they head for space once more and so does the SPX and Nasdaq.

It's electric too, if you want this future. Otherwise it is America's XR6-T moment with an inline 6

Also spotted is a VH Valiant styling cue, look at the wedged body line under the doors through to the tail - imagine that in an orange VH Pacer sedan, it's a dead ringer!

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...2025#gallery-4

Very spun out, I thought the future with electric was Noddy car styling like that iMiev or the frankenhomer of the i3. Not so, it can be cool and curved and big Americana.

4 door sixpack would do well, too. Nice to offer choice. Stellantis saving the world, Captain Planet style. Bring it here.

Sprintey you have hit the nail on the head. I’m so taken by it too.

No forcing you into an SUV if you want a family car. You want two doors? You can have two doors. You got kids and you want to carry them along? No problem, you can have a four door model. Choice.

No forcing you to go for electric, you get a choice - which is really the one thing we are lacking majorly in the new car market. If you want electric, there’s an option, if you want high performance petrol you can get the exact same car with a drivetrain that’s more to your taste. No V8? Who cares! I6T is way cooler anyway. And given we are on a Ford forum probably a few people agree with me on that one

And yes I noticed the fuselage look too. Love it. I’m not an electric buyer but isn’t it nice to have an electric car that doesn’t look like a bugman-mobile?

I want one so badly. I’ll have a 4 door straight six one in the brightest colour available.

I do understand a 5.2m long wagon version with column shift and bench seat might be asking for too much though...

...but for that you probably will be able to get the Hurricane I6 in a Grand Cherokee L wagon.

Yep I miss bright and lustrous metallic colours.

A man can dream. Can that column shift have three speeds? And can I shift them myself?

And imagine if the wagon was styled like a VH-VK-VJ with cavernous space inside and ability to fit 11' of Longboard diagonally so as to dominate all those out on puny 9'6's....

Instant purchase.

Sadly, the mad induction note probably won't translate to the modern turbo version.

This promo vid is exciting, great marketing, you've convinced me, haha!

Notice too that the body is a hatch (is the sedan as well? Hope so!) so has 'SUV style practicality'. So that means stowing longer items is a go.

Looking at the video twice I noticed the nose to front quarter panel join isn't obvious in some of the video image while at other times in close up its obviously there....it looks so much better when the join lines are hidden..Colour choice makes a big difference to seeing the panel lines.

It's a lot like the HQ clip front join... done for easier styling updates. Hides better in orange in the pics. The electric one with the front wing is pretty rad - you can have a sloping AU style front bonnet, but still look tough and square from the front, and the 'mouth' styling of 1960s Chargers is actually really functional. Wouldn't mind the petrol having this but understand the airflow demands.

Spent a lot of last night off in the world of Hurricanes, Racer X did a good video on the why of the end of the Hemis - I think he mentions something astounding like in a single quarter, Stellantis paid Tesla over half a billion dollars in carbon credits, so it must reduce it's overall fuel use. Given they are in production with models that are known and sell at volume and have history, a 10% reduction on the turbo 6's helps across the board, and the halo models going electric and prioritising Kw application over economy with AWD makes sense too, as Fiat etc go electric and economy to offset.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c63JUQcVni4

Seems absolutely mad to be sending your competitors such large amounts of cashflow and I can see why Toyota has said no to doing this, that's not capitalism at all, it's redistribution.

Other thing that contributed was the relative smog rating, which is apparently important in the US:

I was pretty disappointed when they discontinued the V8s.

Gotta say, I am liking this, though it could be just the glitzy marketing video, but I also don't care, I just like it and when I really, really like something it never makes sense why.

I feel for the kids today

Dead buys a new EV Dodge Charger and drives the kids to school in this insult to the Charger name

I will never forget the times in 1970 when dad drove me to school in an almost new 1969 dodge charger 426 HEMI

YEAH, THAT WAS UNFORGETTABLE

I like the marketing guy, but I don't like the OTT poor quality CGI, its corny AF, kind of reminds me of the Need for Speed Underground intro from 2003

Given how shitful Stellantis is doing, whats the odds on this coming to Australia in RHD? I reckon we'll be overlooked even though we were a decent market for the 300C/300 SRT models.

Next to no chance I'd say. YT is full of videos of CDJR being in real trouble right now with high prices, customer backlash and dealership inventories ballooning. Franco you'd love to see that the cars that sit on the lot the longest, Stellantis dominating the top 10 haha! Send a large part of that Challenger inventory to Australia to clear...

Lots of enthusiast videos suggesting Stellantis being a Euro brand is deliberately killing off Dodge, Chrysler, RAM, Jeep - Australian muscle enthusiasts say "Heard it all before!" - the yanks don't like the idea of another country owning your automakers and then deliberately crashing them - karma!

Personally I think Dodge is trying to walk a tightrope and by giving their customers choice with the turbo 6, have not abandoned them. (Us Aussies know how good an I6T can be). If only the customers could see it.

Is there a way? Can you just buy it and ship it over here, I mean anything's possible. A rural property with a decent run in the far paddock might be handy, too (wife's fam had 10,000 acres, I left the unlicenced $800 Val out there and had a ball every time I visited...)

In Vic, I think you can drive on LHS, I wonder if you could get some form of special compliance for it?

Spray on liners is lolworthy, wonder how they'll go with our crap fuel, BMW had issues with this in their 1990s/00s cars in our market, to the point we just didn't get certain engines because of high sulfur fuel.

Also over-complicated thermostat causing issues, surprise surprise, and 2 hours paid warranty time but an all day job to replace it.

EDIT: Why am I raising concerns with our fuel when we probably won't even see the cars in the first place

We had sooo many issues with the E-Stats on the CAT 793F, must have been around 5 or more product updates from CAT to repair the issue, we ended up going aftermarket to solve the problem and save some $$ on the repair

I just don't understand why OEM's need to make things overcomplicated
