Why does everyone like bland coloured cars? Well, I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, it's simply because I don't like to stand out. I don't seek attention, nor do I enjoy attention. My car's exterior is completely stock standard and will stay that way for as long as I own it. Silver is a nice, classy, inconspicuous colour that's fairly easy to keep clean because dirt isn't easily noticeable on it.

As others have said, some of us like to blend in with the crowd rather than standing out and screaming "Look at me, look at me". Another thing to consider is that some of these "Non-Bland" colours do not suit certain types of vehicles, in my opinion. Take my G220 Fairlane, for instance, in "Japanese household appliance White", I purposely went out and chased down a white Fairlane, because to me, its one of the best colours to suit it. Black didn't interest me, ego was too hard to find and being attached to a BF model, drew a premium price tag as well (And I'm a tight-***), and silver didn't really hold much sway with me either. But the more dynamic colours, I feel, would have ruined it. Horses for courses, not all colours will suit all sorts of cars.
Resale is another big sticking point with colour. While most of us say "I'll never sell it", the reality is that somewhere along the lines, our cars will most likely find their way into hands of a new owner. In this instance, its more logical to have a car with a "mainstream" colour, rather than a colour that stands out and looks awesome to one person. I agree that white, silver, grey or black aren't the best colours ON SOME CARS, in fact I'm a huge fan of Seduce, Nitro, Blood Orange, Mandarin and yes, even Dash. Would any of those colours suit my Fairlane? In my opinion, no. Seduce may, but even then I don't think it would look as good on the Fairlanes as it does on the Falcons and Fairmonts. I like the fact that my Fairlane has a subtle paint colour, it suits the subtle nature of the driver... Sort of . |

It sometimes comes down to personal attitude.
To some "look at me" is the reason they choose how their car is decorated. To others "look at someone else" is preferable. When driving "enthusiastically" I personally believe: "Hello hoon hotline, I just saw a grey big car like a holden or falcon or toyota going too fast. Its rego was A-B-something-something-4-5-6 or maybe 5-4-6 " is preferable to Hello hoon hotline, I just saw a bright blue current model GT Falcon with white stripes, BOSS 335 stickers and really big shiny wheels going too fast. Its rego was "GT Falcon". My first FPV was a bright blue GT-P, my second was a silver F6. One drew the crabs regularly the other was almost unnoticable. |

I personally do not believe that there are only two categories of colours, attention grabbing and greyscale.
Regency is a very nice colour, but it doesn't turn heads, for example.

I've got the following colours
Yellow (but comes up on the paint code as green) Brown (paint code says gold) White A green 95 Fairlane (don't know the colour name) Blue (which changes to green, grey or silver, depending on the light) A concoction that was mixed when the car was due for paint and finally a Factory blue. Only colours I hate is white (PITA to keep clean) and the Fairlane green...Looks like snot out of a babies nose... Bland.....Everyone has different tastes in car colouring...

No one likes bland colours, but the major car makers only build them in bland colours lately. If you want something other than White, Silver or Beige you better be prepared to buy the sports model and pay $$$$$

I like Octane. I stand out and I don't care. I didn't buy it for other people, I bought it for myself, and because I got sick of the Grey interior/exterior of the BA.

Why don't they make brown cars anymore :(
Who seriously buys bright colours to stand out. If I see a bright colored car, i might spot it easier, but I won't necessarily look twice at it. I only look twice if it's a cool car. No matter what colour it is. |

I've owned a white car for the last nine years...and can't wait to see the back of it, it gets dirty just parked in the driveway, and it shows. My first car was metallic blue (a bit like blueprint), the next one will be orange...not sure if Electric Orange or Tangerine Scream yet, but it will be one of them - for two reasons. One for safety purposes - the two safest colours to be on the road in are Orange and Yellow. Two because I like orange...I'm not technically a 'young'n', I just like bright colours.
It's not just an A to B vehicle, it's a fair chunk of my wage...I may as well enjoy it. As for resale, whatever I buy I'm in for the long term, not a month...so resale isn't high on my priority list.

I see a AU series 1 ute every morning on my way to work and because it is Regency red it stands out i think it looks awesome it has been lowered and has after market rims on it, but if it was any other colour i wouldnt even notice it. I think the worst colour Ford did was acid rush i dont think it is a "late model"car colour but a guy i know has a Capri race car in acid rush and it looks good. Horses for courses.

Remember the valiant olive greens, the datsun mustard yellows, the x series browns, Plymouth purples etc, probably wouldn't do too well these days but if you saw these old cars in the flesh they just go well together. definitely a case of a particular car matching a particular colour

Jesus, that bottom car looks so bland I nearly didnt notice the freaken scary mo fo engine water boy is about to drool over....
Turbo too small for a bland car LOL And Beige - no wonder you got NOS control in cabin Looks so grandpa-ish from the outside hahahahaha, underwhelming, every WRX and Silvia pilot would want a run. Although the skinny's on the front and fats on the rear would make me think twice! Seriously though, the last two pics, the last two cars are sweet.. theyre all sweet. But need bigger turbos
