really? hows the aurion selling? falcon smashes aurion. its a perception thing. camry isn't viewed as a large car. it was also only a few hundred off commodore this month, which says it isn't a falcon problem, its a large car problem i'm sure you've heard that before.

When only 2 players make up the segment, how do we know it is a segment problem & not a problem of the 2 players in the segment? What would the large car segment look like today if both Ford & Holden had put diesel in there large car 5-6 years ago?

Ok, if you want to go down Auron path, I'll play along. Camry & Aurion are pretty much the same car with just different engines, yet one is large & one is medium. Good on Toyota for marketing the difference & getting that perception across! Maybe if Ford got off they backside & marketed the EB4 as a medium car against the Camry, we can expect EB4 sales to be the same as Camry sales. After all it is only a perception thing & the only way to change perception is for Ford to get cracking with some media spend!!!

A very good question, both Ford and Holden have evaded diesel and tried everything that avoids the question.
The first one to throw away LPG, Ecoboost, small V6 ect.. and embraces a V6 diesel will walk away winners.

There where 536 Falcon utes sold in August. With 1353 Falcon sedans that makes 1889. So the total sales of the Falcon/Ute/Territory in August was 1353 + 536 + 1357 = 3246. Total sales of the Commodore/Ute in August was 2435 + 778 = 3213.

Interesting, after Novembers down balance, Ford will have a theoretical production capacity of 2960 a month. Does this mean they will work overtime as required?

I think it just shows how many cars they expect to sell in coming months.

They have zero faith in their product and barely even bother supporting it.

Boss do you think ford Australia are really wanting to throw between 1.5 and 2 BILLION worth of revenue off just 1 platform, and rely on imports that struggle to make 1/3 of that from variants off any given global platform available?

Dont forget they also need a couple a hundred for export to NZ each month also. I reckon they wouldnt mind selling 3400 cars a month for a few months, whilst only making 3000. Allows you not to have to discount selling prices and also allows you build up an order book that can be erased down the track with a bit of overtime.

I am buying an XR6 turbo limited ed, which is listed on the ford site when using a computer, but doesn't show up on my android phone, none of the falcon offers do, like it doesn't exist,

This, and the fact that alot of old new Australian's have a belief that Toyotas dont die because the old ones didnt. Not saying that they are unreliable and some models are better than others but plenty think they are the be all end all.

Yes it includes Sportwagon, Holden on Tuesday said Sportwagon is its third best selling model behind Cruze and Commodore sedan, it outsells Colorado and Captiva.

The large car segment desperately needs a rejuvenated Falcon and Commodore. Commodore is way too old, and Falcon looks old.

thats just twisting things around to allow you to kick ford. if you admit that its a large car segment issue then you are accepting that falcon is possibly doing ok in the circumstances and that would just be too hard now wouldn't it!!

diesel sales is speculation. you can't compare how diesel sells in a totally different segment. diesel has always excelled in the suv/4wd market. a few small cars offer it but in the mid/large passenger car segment, it is totally unproven and a big risk for a car maker that has very little funds.

would diesel work? there is zero evidence to suggest either way and obviously neither manufacturer is prepared to take that risk.

I agree, Ford have priced the Euros as "premium" when they are not. Focus should be about $5k less. Focus Titanium is $38krrp before negotiations. Kuga is at least $10k over priced.. If the Focus Titanium was $33k drive away, sales would jump. Fiesta Zetec shouldn't be more than $20k driveaway. Ford expected the Euro tag would sell, it hasn't..cars are great but, over priced. Another example, Cruze SriV is selling very well, compared to Focus Titanium..why ? $33k drive away, I have seen them for $29,999 drive away.
Ford need to change prices to a reasonable level....

Get a Toyota product and price list and copy it best as possible, immediatly

This is so very true. Mercedes Benz will be releasing the all new A-class early next year starting from $34,990 driveaway. Ford will probably wait for that and then react. Which pretty much sums up Ford's Marketing. They have never been quick to react let alone show any form of proactiveness. They could write a book on how to screw great products up.

On the launch month itself, there was a driveaway promotion of $39990. Month later, $39490, monthe later, $38490, month later $37490, month later $36490 and now $35,490 less a $1000, $34,490 driveaway.

you dont need to look hard to find a registered demo never driven for less than $32k. Gee, I'd be rapt if i had got in early and bought 1 for $40k!

Market forces at work, gut feeling first price figure needs to be "2" for the Kaakaa

Speaking of market price, compact SUV;s are @ $30k, currently you can buy a BRAND NEW V6 Cherokee Jeep for $30k driveaway, thats before u negotiate, its a steal and fantastic buy, sure its a older [but proven] model but its a bargain, if that was there in 2010 would have purchased it for her.

My local dealers doing Trends for $33k and Titaniums for $38k....

Still can't move them.... I think the new model will help.

Focus did not make it on the list as there has been a model change over.... Moved to Thailand.... They did not have stock and still do not. I was going to buy a new LWII Focus Sport and cannot get one. Yet again Fords supply chain letting them down.

If Ford could supply Territory Ranger and Focus they would be number 2 I reckon. They are let down by the US supply feeders.
