F series truck sold 2000 in Australia in 2005 compared to 640 000 sold in USA . That is 320 to 1. So demand is Australia is not such to prompt Ford USA to fast track F series trucks here. They are available at premium prices as small companies import them.
If they were sold here at 45k like in US that would be another story.

Yeah but they only sold the F250 or 350 IIRC, for something like $80k+...thats a pretty small marketplace in a small market!

The F150 at the right price would sell well, its nameplate would help enormously.

Mind you our F250/350 we got from the Brazil factory was only the USA 1999 model through its entire run with a few updates here and there, they didn't even have glove boxes either.

They still want the same price as they sold for new for an F350 7.3 dual cab with 300,000km on the clock.

Local fish and chip shop owner who lives near me has two F250s as daily drivers for his wife and him, but they're just the 5.4s.

yeah - i test drove one in the US last year.

totally ruined every 4x4 ute over here for me. Seriously, i couldnt bring myself to buy a ranger after driving it. for the money i would be annoyed every time i stepped into a ranger (or other 4x4 ute).
So unless your going to pay $100k for a raptor, dont test drive one because it will ruin all others. (sort of like taking Jessica alba and scarlet Johansen out for maccas and then getting a three way - and then having to go to expensive restaurants just to get to 2nd base with regular expostulator's for the rest of your life.

they are awesome - not crazy fast but pretty fast. great for going quickly over rough fire trails. Huge inside (even the rear) and quite a nice level of luxury. the tray is a lillte small but most people probably wouldnt want the thing to be any bigger. I am 6'5 and i thought i was in heaven.

In the end i bought a jeep grand cherokee diesel - nice car and was only 10k more than the same spec'd model in the US. based on that math I'd buy a raptor for $65k AUD in a heart beat

only down side is they do like to drink - a 5ltr turbo Desiel would be sweeeet (3 ltr would be tooo small).

I made some enquiries with friends in the US that work at ford and it came back very clear that no way would ford sell F150's in australia in the short term. (dodge were/are thinking about the ram 1500 though)

Dodge was talking about bringing over the RAM when the 2015 refresh comes around as they're considering it for RHD production, I'm guessing the 1500 rather than the others.

1500 is the light duty model like the F150 but it has the 3L V6 VM Motori diesel engine the Jeep Grand Cherokee has.

I bet Ford will change their mind if Dodge gets in first:

http://www.caradvice.com.au/180980/d...set-australia/

Quote:
Fiat Chrysler Australia already sells the left-hand-drive
Ram to Australian mining companies, which are happy to order the big utes even
though they can’t be registered and driven on public roads.

“We are inhibited because they can’t take them off private
property, but it is still a high demand vehicle,” Campbell said. “The mines love it. They love its hauling capacity. There is nothing on offer that does what this does.”

While Fiat Chrysler is currently looking at the Ram business
case, Campbell said he thinks the numbers stack up.

“I think we have got a business case that works there,” he
said. “They clearly see that there is a pent-up demand for this
product in this market.”

Campbell points out that no full-size utes have been
available in Australia since the Brazilian-sourced Ford F-Series withdrew in
2006 after a five-year stint.

“These guys have a need,” he said.
Put me down for one if they come to Australia.

^ I used to have a GMC Sierra 3500, so I've already been ruined.

4 Tonne vehicle, 6.5L TDV8 under the hood, 4sp auto, 100km/h up a steep hill without breaking a sweat.

Then I sold it because I'm a moron.

New owner has it in Sydney, so keep an eye out for it lol.

Theres nothing like these big American utes, very comfortable, big inside, mine had captains chairs, and very easy to drive.

Neighbor brought home a new BT50 and my 3500 made it look tiny.

Definitely.

I would buy a F150, probably a Raptor, in a heart beat if Ford decided to sell them here for a reasonable price.
Is there any other market in the world that buys F trucks in Right hand drive?
I honestly think we would have them here if our rules weren't so biased to right hand drive on new cars.
Or if we just drove left hand drive like everyone else.

The sheer fact Dodge can sell unregisterable Rams here and people pay $150k plus for base model F Trucks, Silverado's, etc. here means theres surely a big market here and you would imagine a market for them in other RHD markets.

I prefer the trucks with the full sized 4 doors like the bottom Raptor.

Don't see the point in the half assed one, its either 2 doors or 4 with me, not 2 and a half with a tiny rear seat which is useless.

Needs a 5 poster and a rear alloy roll bar with 4x Hella Rallye 4000 compacts across the top.

Also what was a small market in 2006 when Ford pulled the plug on the F250/350, has completely changed, 2014 there are more dual cab 4x4 pieces of junk carting people around than ever.

Because they're too effing dear! Ford Oz must think we don't know what they sell vehicles for in the US. Why should I pay a huge premium to get one when Cousin Floyd in Louisiana can grab one any day of the week for $40k?

Quote:

Exactly, the markup is huge and thats what makes them out of reach for most people. The Ranger is not the be all and end all of Australian Ford Utes. No V8 for a start and YES that DOES matter to some people!

They sure would.

seems to be turning into a price war, this is not what the threads about. yes they are way too expensive. if they did a right hand drive you could import them and knock 50k of the price.

its not just ford here that imports are over the top. its most of the cars that get imported. you pay for what you want if you want, or you don't.

not too many supercharged v8 tray backs you can buy that have had a tonne of r,n,d done on them that can drive over shopping trolleys at woolies .

Off topic...Focus ST in America is $24k !!!!! " Although the ST starts at $23,625 my realistic base price jumps to $25,845 by adding the “ST2″ package which I consider essential. This package adds the 8-inch screen, automatic climate control and the Recaro seats that you see in all the photos and reviews of the Focus ST. The base seats lack the aggressive bolstering or the exceptional comfort of the half-leather Recaro thrones. ST2 shoppers can opt for two-tone seats (as seen in our tester) in blue, yellow or black-on-black. Checking the ST3 box brings the ST up to $28,000 and adds completely leather faced seats (black only), seat heaters, HID headlamps, LED daytime running lamps and standard navigation software." This shows how ripped off we are..not just Ford but every import.

Your not quite comparing apples with apples, our st is a mix of st2 and st3, also the American st is built in America where as ours comes from Germany. Also working on the above figures and converting to AUD we are about 8grand more which if you add in shipping cost etc sounds about right to me. I'm not denying we get charged more for some imports but in the case of the Focus ST we are on par.

Any back on topic nice work on the raptor mate awesome choice I'm sure you will love it. Hope to see some pics of it when you get your new beast

thats the 2014 so i assume the 2015 will be better

BTW the F150 is the most profitable car in america (certainly the most profitable for ford)

dont know why they went to the trouble of doing a ranger from scratch

Thats a sweat **** cabin - love the duel pane sun roof.

i'd consider moving to the US just to get one of these (and the guns, girls, moonshine, man size food, helicopter pig shooting ..........)

and i love how they put an opening window in the rear window so you can talk to people in the tray - in australia a baby deer overdoses on heroin every time a person rides in the back of a ute - so we cant have that feature

considering the below has cost me 40grand to date brand new, you can't argue with that

thats exactly right. but what else comes into play is the know how to do the job correctly, the people tools and equipment to do so. for example the people who are doing the one i,m getting remold a whole new dash board thats just the beginning . 350 hours to convert a truck.

still sure the the importers make good money on each truck. they have also gone to alot of expense to run there shop to get it. ( this isn,t directed at you either tray-18 just adding some extra that i just thought off)
