So, let me get this right before I go and tell my boss that the CV8-Z in that ad is actually the sound of a Ford V8 ...

He loves the sound of that Ford CV8-Z. I'll have to wait for the main man himself to explain.

Fun and games aside, I think it is extremely unethical to do this kind of thing. Both camps have done it. It's false advertising. In the V8 game, sound is a major factor in driver experience.

Can you imagine forking out $60k+ for a car expecting it to sound like that only to find that it can't?

Its an Ad.... !
would anyone seriously buy a car based on how it sounded on TV? :
Besides, the sound is different in real life compared to the recorded sound on the ads...

Think about it. If not, why would FORD and HOLDEN go through all the trouble of "faking" it? As i said, in the V8 market, sound plays a big factor.

Id say Ford or Holden have very little to do with it!!
The advertising companies handle all this stuff and use what ever sound files they can get that best represents the image they're trying to create for the product!
Ive never heard a V8 yet that sounds the same in real life compared to how it sounds recorded anyway.

Can you imagine ever buying a car without firing it up and taking it for a drive? If sound is such a huge deal to you (as it is to me) then you'll want to hear it in person before making a decision anyway.

Congrats Gary. Awesome achievement! It’s not everyday you can claim to having a hand to play in the death of a legend. Never heard your car but that is very nice.

settle grettle!

While its all very well that you say you where there, I think everyone would still like to hear it from gary.

One can imagine how embarrassing it would be if it was not true, but Im sure an admin wouldn't post it up if it was BS

What the hell?? The Ban Button(tm) now has 'Polyal' written on it .. wonder if I should use it ??
I don't care if people believe me or not ... as if I would ban someone for not taking my word. Get a sense of humour.

well things have got very touchy lately....so you never know. I dont know why everyone thinks you can pick up sarcasim through a keyboard...quite difficult. You need to use the smilies if you want to be effective <- like that.

Anyways....was it that much of an issue saying it would be better if gary spoke? Wasn't really that contraversial....

I hope this story gets known outside of our little community, there is going to be so much holden denial!

perhaps the :Reverend: icon may have given it away. I knew that on the face of it the statement was a tad harsh, hence the smiley.

Oh, the Holden guys know about it.

Guys... it goes both ways, car manufacturers don't MAKE TVCs, they make cars... Here's a familiar Ford commerical from Ernie Clark, just look in the Portfolio, the sound effects here, definately aren't recorded from the Ford. Does sound nice though, whatever it's recorded from.
