I merely was trying to paint the picture which seems to becoming a reality that large cars like Fords are indirectly the target through fuel usage or carbon emmissions of those that see the Prius as the new world saviour. Again, regardless of which political side is in power I would rubbish them equally depending on proposals designed to disadvantage anyone who doesn't agree with the propaganda and hype.

Geez this makes me angry, I drive on the freeway everyday and if anything, the limit should be raised 10km/h, there's a section of freeway heading up the coast which years ago was raised to 110km/h and traffic flows really well, so lowering it isn,t going to do anything but congest traffic even more....

HA!
I'm glad when my mum asked if i wanted to read it i said no. i literally would have threw up everywhere. hahaha! rpm causes racing not speed? BS! i'll just change my gear ratio's so i have 6 gears but it goes through them in half a second i'll be sitting on 120 right from the word go! I also laugh at the lines for the woolies 4c fuel savings. People walk out of there with a 600ml coke that cost $4 and a pie thats $4 both inflated 200% and then they go bitching about fuel pricing? I've also started making my own lunch, not eating out so much, etc. When it comes to fueling up you just fill the tank end of story. i'm not ignorant i just don't see the point in the huge kafauffle. oh maybe some of us should write in to that mag... i bet they only published it because only 2 people wrote in! |

Are there roads that require TLC? Absolutely. I don't have facts and figures infront of me as to the cost of what needs done and the money available to do it with. I do know that I already pay a shedload of tax for the priveledge of living in NSW and I don't want to pay a single cent more. |

August Wheels have a brilliant mythbusteresque article on the "green guide to save petrol".
It shows that reality and theory are a long way apart. |

i am in tears ... 10km/h = 10% fuel saving : shows how little this person knows about fuel injection, let alone cars ... lets make a short and simple calculation (figures taken from my fuel map in my commodore) 100km/h = 2050rpm in 4th gear, 13.1HG vac, 12% TPS => 4.08ms 110km/h = 2200rpm in 4th gear, 11.5HG vac, 13% TPS => 4.21ms 4.08 to 4.21 is not a 10% difference, so by simply going by this example, it is more fuel economical to travel at 110km/h. I am happy to pull some fuel maps from skylines, falcons and other cars to justify this calculation, but i vote for increase of speed limit to save fuel

i think we should ban the slow drivers, they obviously dont care about getting somewhere in time and dont need to use their cars, therefore reducing petrol consumption and freeing up traffic congestion because they dont move through lights quick enough.
