Precisely. It is the individual who is at fault here. Not ford.

And also, I would like to know why they make food that can make people fat. Or cigarettes that give you cancer. Why should the sun be allowed to give us melanomas? And also, why should they make cars that produce CO2 when we know the environment is dying? My god people, its a revelation!

No limiter on mine but when you say limited is it just the 6T? Because a friend had his standard BA MK2 XR8 pushing 250kmph, on the same road at the same time.

My Au2xr8 never found a limiter and hit 240, my ba xr8 found its one at 245, and i never tried to find it in my bf2xr6t until after it was removed

Check your speedo, the limiter on all B series XR8/6Ts is set to 230km/h.

Speedo is accurate, well at least I assume it is; haven't been flagged with any fines at the moment. Maybe mine is either knackered or just deactivated? I'm not sure about his XR8 but he was doing a touch under 250kmph, but I was defiantly over 260 at the time.
I heard the BA Wagons are limited to 160 though?

You assume it is? So you have never checked it against a GPS?

I hate to rain on your parade but firstly the BA speedos are not particularly accurate at least my GTP, 2 F6s and XT as well as every B series I ever rented were all out. My GTP read over 270 when it was going 254.

This was compared against my aviation GPS which I have checked many times at up to 400km/h against radar.

If the BA XR8 was not flashed and the limiter turned off there is no way it was doing 250 and if you were in a XRT reading the speedo at over 260 you must firstly have had your limiter turned off and secondly were probably doing somewhere between 230 and 250. They all read VERY high.

Even at 100 on the speedo you will be doing 94-96 in a BA, check it yourself.

Too true. My BA2T was constantly under when compared to a GPS, I have verified with a number of different GPS devices and they were always right but the speedo was under.

As the speed went up so did the differences in the reported speed on the car as opposed to that of the GPS.

240km was like 234 on the GPS

Even my s2 au xr6 the speed reads 6 or7 kph fast at 100 , I assume that means at 200 the error would be double?

Well, as speedo calibration discrepancies would be measured in percentages, I assume it would.

Baxr6t reads 4ks over at 100, and current model ranger reads 5ks over at 100. Yet my old mans fg xr6t is only 1 k out . All read against GPS.

The speedos read high, this means you are going SLOWER than the speedo indicates.

And it appears that the faster you go the greater the difference between indicated and actual speed.
This is a major contribution to the "I did 320km/h in my stock EA" stories that abound on the internet and maccas car parks...

I had my speedo calibrated professionally and decided to do some test and tuning...My speedo was reading 170 KPH, yet I was lucky to be doing 10 KPH....Went back to the place complaining about the discrepancy and when they saw the back of the car, they knocked back my claim.....Still trying to figure out why.

Seriously.....Who cares if the speedo reads slow....Less chance of people coming on here whinging about the speeding ticket they got.

I honestly thought this thread was about some knob filming his car doing well over 200 KPH and posting it on the internet so he could get pinged....Not about speedo discrepancies

Lets face it......If the speedo is out 10 KPH at that speed, it ain't going to matter to much if he looses it....I'd just feel sorry for the poor buggers that'd have to clean the mess up.

My Pursuit felt much safer at 240kph than my VE Valiant slant 6 160hp on bias ply cheese cutters did at 160kph

My Hayabusa felt much safer and controllable at 270 than my 1982 CB1100RC did at a tank slapping 225kph.

Most of us can admit to doing stupid speeds at some stage, and we lived to tell the story.
Some I know didn't live, and Christmas is always a time I remember them.

This is the reason why so many do 10+ under the limit on highways and think you're a hoon if you go to overtake them.

Which then means video-ing the deed puts him not wholly in control of a motor vehicle - hey, you're right, he's in the pooh.
Maybe he'll need to mention the awesome brakes on the R-Spec

Agree, any decent driver will drive to the conditions, which often means slowing to below the posted limit - especially with kids around, carparks, etc, just frigg'n common sense.
However, when there's obviously NO danger, there IS such a thing as Safe Speeding - shock horror. It's all down to experience and intelligence.
Anyone who doesn't believe that should don a bowls hat and search for a Camry Forum!

The area he was doing those speeds, I wouldn't class as a very good area to be doing that....tree lined crappy surfaced road.....Hit a pot hole and kiss your butt good bye.

So that fella didn't have any intelligence what so ever in picking his spot for those antics....A good spot would be outback NT.

That's for sure - or a 'roo of any size and it's all over.
Good point, re: trees - never much yield there.....
