Interesting to see the Commodore design finally becomes 21st century with the adoption of a Bangle bum (first seen in the 7 series Bmw) - probably a improvement from the rip off of the E46 3 series that the VE is

Why do all these created images of upcoming models show them with big wheels and lowered to the ground, any car looks decent like that.

Hell these things make HSV's look like 4x4's by comparison.

MOST pre production models are shown lowered and with extra's the road going model ends up missing out on. - its just life.

I think it looks like a VE 2.0 with those massive wheel flares. Seriously, you can sit a small toddler on those.

Is it just me or is the commodore getting the caprice roof line?

I am eagerly awaiting this car, could be my next ride.

I'd rather good quality low tech than poor quality high tech.

Example VT versus AU rear ends. The VT had IRS which in theory should be superior to the live axle fitted to most AUs. But the AU rear end was much better sorted than the VT IRS which was a cheap system.

Gee they are taking the use of common parts serious. Pulled out the design drawings for the cruze boot, and just added a few cm's here and there.

SS-V in Alto Grey with a 6.2 sounds very appealing.

The best thing to happen to Falcon is to have a successful VF, it will draw people into large cars and Falcon will get the spillover. As long as the VF is as good as I think it will be, I will be upgrading into a SS Sportwagon.

I guess secretly, Ford will be thinking the same, much like Holden were when the FG debuted. The FG update/2014 car will be as good as the VF. Better? We will have to wait and see...

Yikes! That looks like a Daewoofied VE, further demonstrating why I will never buy a Holden. Ford has been immeasurably ahead of Holden for such a long time now (since VN to be specific).

Out of interest, have you owned an FG? I've had three, sadly they are not top quality like some make out. Excellent motor vehicles, but not top quality. If anything, a US market Commodore will take a step up in quality. But regardless, quality isn't even applicable here - how can you have a "poor quality" remote start, blind spot detection, forward collision warning, mood lighting etc? It's all GM technology. They are features the Falcon will likely never have - and once introduced on top of everything else the VF brings, the Falcon will seem mighty low tech in comparison.

All good on paper, untill you feel the boost in your Falcon and forget all about such things.

On a serious note, what is to say the Falcon will not have these things when it is next updated?

That's one thing Holden will never have, an angry boosted inline 6

The next Falcon update is 2014, I very much doubt Ford will be pumping too much money into it seeing as it's unlikely (at this stage) that we will even have an Australian built Falcon post 2016.

Just incase you don't know, it is also unlikely we will have an Aussie built Commodore post 2016.

Be that as it may, they are preparing Commodore for the US market for the 2013/14 model year, so it's receiving a substantial update including joint development with GM in the US. If it proves to be successful as a Chevrolet, who knows, it may live on for a while longer.

Well, you'd be mistaken on that count. Dunno about Forward Collision Warning and "mood lighting" (it's a car, not a nightclub) but the rest is a sure bet, along with adaptive cruise, lane departure warning nad of course, Sync.

Man how i wish this sentence was reversed, just once. It would be good to see Ford leading the pack.

The new VF (if those designs are accurate) looks....different. Definitely some global styling cues going on here. The green one looks very much cruze-ish to me. The red one in the car-advice article looks very american. I'm undecided at this stage. VE got branded as butt-ugly but it sells drastically more than the less aggressive looking Falcon. Maybe thats what people want at the moment.
