It's not going to matter if they just use an 'XR' prefix, e.g. XR50 is non-cylinder specific. In that case, you could be driving an XR EcoBoost, with fancy graphics (a la XR50) - that would be a sweet car, and doesn't get hung up with numbers of cylinders - makes sense as a stable-mate to the ECO-LPG XR6........only greener!

If we changed the thread title ( to Should Ford build a Sports Ecoboost Falcon?), would that affect the poll numbers, everyone's attitude?

If Ford is getting this feedback from the dealer network directly they are more likely to take action.
Of course I have, just because I think something needs to happen doesn't mean Ford argree's, I am just voicing my opinion to see what others think.

Fraudulent to whom? All those people that are actually not buying the XR6? Who cares what they think. We need to get all the others into the XR6, and if an Ecoboost XR6 brings them, I say go for it.

If the XR6 had've had an Ecoboost version, I would've bought it over the 6 cyl. Even if just for the cheaper rego alone.

I guess I better have a look under my bonnet in my XR50, it should have 50 cylinders in there somewhere.......

People mentioning the XR6 supposed to be "sporty"

Well, it look sporty, but there isn't really anything THAT much different compared to the standard ones besides seats, diff ratio, ride height and looks right?

Its not like the Tickford ones of the E series with some minor engine mods happening there.

I'd prefer an LPI XR6 turbo; the LPI XT I had as a company car seemed faster than a BA XR6T- imagine if they marketed a guilt free performance car!

That, plus sports-tuned 2.0GTDi would re-invigorate the Falcon brand no end.

Whether its going to happen or not I don't know, comes down to whether they really want to turn Falcon around, or if 2014 is about re-arranging deckchairs on the Titanic...

Doubt it will ever hit the market though. Not sure if it would sell in enough numbers to justify it.

It is a difficult marketing exercise.

How do you position a new car in a demographic that is dominated by people whose primary focus is not spending any more money than absolutely necessary?

By creating a daring, desirable product that excites people enough to part with their hard earned. If what you said was true, the Toyota 86 would not have a huge waiting list.

I get what you're saying though, but surely Aussie sedans are meant to occupy that middle ground between "lets get some cheap, sensible transport" and " OMG I want it!".

Yes but unfortunately the primary focus of the private LPG market is CHEAP transport.

A while ago there were squillions of posts waxing lyrically over the ecoLPi but I am fairly confident that there has not been one single ecoLPi XR6 bought new privately by any member of AFF. The standard comment always seems to be "pick one up from the auctions".

The idea of an ecoboost XR6 has the advantage of being cheaper to operate than the petrol I6 without all the disadvantages of LPG. If it were a Telstra or similar fleet option I suspect that there may be a market.
