Longest continual production of a car

what car has been produced continuously the longest?
Falcon must be towards the top of the list? 1960 –today and beyond? –
Holden is out as they switched from Kingwood to Commodore in the late 70’s, Mini’s and Bugs are out as they were not produced for such a long time. Anyone got anything longer than the Falcon?

The beetle was built from 1938-2003. apparently the kombi is on it's way to beating it.

Ive read that it was the beetle too.
And one of the citroen's, i think c6 or something, the ugly sqare shaped thing. That was in production for many years in many different countries up to the 90's.

Jaguar XJ - 1968 to present

Volkswagen Beetle. 1939 - 2003. And if you count its New Beetle successor, that's a name that's lived 1939 - Present.

Longest use of name is probably covered. Chevy Suburban or Ford F-series or something like that- definately not the Falcon

But design probably the Beetle. Hindustan Ambassador which is a Morris Oxford, been built since the 50s and still in production though my project car the Hillman Hunter isnt far behind 1966-2005 would rate as honourable mentions

Mini should be ritten off it was made until 2000.

Longest use of a name. The idea is you could walk in a showroom and buy (example) a Falcon on any given day (not counting days they are closesd) dating back to when the first one was sold in 1960 and buy a brand new car (falcon).

Could you go to a VW dealer and buy a brand new Kombi? no, so this does not count.



The actual bet was for sales in Australia, but I'll take anything.

yes. I believe these have been manufactured new no stop since the 30's (abet in mexico/sth america/some hole)

Looks like it has. It wasn't called "Kombi," officially. Kombi is a variant...

Volkswagen Type 2 was its original name, then it got Volkswagen Transporter which has stuck. Beetle was originally the Volkswagen Type 1, the Transporter being the second vehicle in their range, hence Type 2.

What about the Morgan 4/4 I believe that has been in "continuous" production since 1936. Has the suburban been in continuous production?

Toyota Landcruiser has been available constantly in Australia since 1959

The VW Transporter was offically released in 1949. Didn't make it here until a few years later. The Land Rover is the longest running model where the basic body hasn't changed to any great extent.
