Default Tasmania sports car rental!

Wondering if anyone knows of a decent car rental place in tasmania where I could Hire a decent luxury or sports car from. I looking to go over there in April next year and want something a bit better than a falcon or stateman etc. Looked at all the car rental joints but nothing from there really tickles my fancy. Any Idea's

There is a place that does an XB Gt 2 door, but apart from that I'm not too sure of anywhere off the top of my head.

Hmm http://www.scronline.com.au/hobart.htm but a VW beetle and an Astra seems to be stretching the definition of a sports car somewhat.

Taken from one of he websites, so maybe they can get something from Melbourne that suits better than the Astra or Beetle!

"EXPERIENCE THE SPORTS CAR OF YOUR DREAMS
You don't have to buy a luxury car just to drive one any more, there are a large range of sports cars for hire in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport to choose from. There a large range of convertible sports car brands availabe such as BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, Audi, Range Rover and much more. If you are wanting a car for a period of 7 days or more and can not find the car of your choice in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport, we can arrange for any cars from another location to be transfered to Hobart, Launceston or Devonport to fulfil your rental requirement. This then provides you with access to more than 250 luxury cars for rental in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport including Porsche, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lotus, Audi and many more....."

Also Europcar usually have some better vehicles than some of the other companys.

I'd say try Europcar ... I found them decent in Melbourne ... more vehicles to choose from as well. And manual version available usually as well (some other places were auto only).

Looks like its a toss up between a bmw 320i, Audi A6 or a Fairlane. Has anyone drove the bm or the audi or both, what would be the better tassie car. Thanks for the other info posters..

go the bm, audis understeer too much in the damp corners and the fairlane is too big a barge to really give a good workout on the tight twisty sections. bms are nicely balanced and have a moderate amount of poke to have fun with.

Well after extensive research and a truckload of phone calls cant get a bmw, so it looks like the audi A6 gets the go ahead. Has anyone on the forums driven an A6 and have you an opinion on the car before I fork over the bills for the rental of my only chance at a so called luxury car? :

save your money and rent a taxi pack commodore or falcon. They are not that special, in fact they felt pretty average to me. The build quality is great, they are very ergonomic and comfortable, but they certainly do not feel special. Sorry for the bad news.
I did see the other day the opportunity to hire an old panelvan or xb v8 (302). I thought it would be great to cruise around in an old classic car!
