Hey guys, I need some info on some reversing cameras, lcds etc.
What i want to do is fit one to one of my trucks. I want to have an LCD screen in a spare din on the dash that will pop up and tuck away when not needed. I also want to watch movies on the screen, so i want to integrate the Reversing camera and the dvd player into the same thing. I also want the system to be switchable, so when ever i want to use the camera i switch it over and it changes. So for DVD viewing i will also replace the factory head unit with an aftermarket unit, but wondering if there was one that enables you to lad the disc into the unit, but display the picture on a stand alone screen?. All this will be going through a 24 volt system, OR i can install another converter and run it on 12 volts to make it simpler. There is heaps of stuff on ebay but i have no idea what is crap or what are the better brands of kits, if there are any? Will the distance from the camera to the cabin be a problem, it will involve at least 12 meters of cable. |

Money is the question mate, quality is the next.
Look at the alpine hub, which will run what you need, with the option of ipod input as well

If moneys not a huge factor the ASL kits would be the best choice.

Just got a Kenwood Touch screen system (double din) for $1000 bucks (Strathfield)
The customisation on this thing is great. It has reverse input (comes on automatically when you put it in reverse or select it all the time), aux input (video and sound), optional nav (kenwood accessory), optional tv tuner (kenwood accessory), optional disc stacker (kenwood accessory). The unit by itself will take CD's, MP3 CD/DVD, and DVD movies. Plus, you it features dual zone speakers. You can play one source on the rear speakers, and another source on the front. There is what is called a handbrake switch, which is hooked up to your handbrake, so it turns off the display when the handbrake is off for the TV and DVD (legality feature, but you can either hook up a switch, or just put the handbrake on 1 click), but it features AV out, so if you have a roof mount screen for the back rows, it will still play on that.
