Whilst the OP's Kombi would be fun I've always preferred the American way of getting a Kombi through traffic

I've got an old Vespa, and our Kombi-loving son has been begging me to build one of these sidecars...



I also know where there's a Traveller (camper version) out in the bush near the railway line, sitting there with the sliding doors open and roof up...seems to be in pretty good condition, and one of these days I'll go for a drive out there to have a look and see who owns it...
