Speaking to my mechanic and i ask him what does he replace in falcon oil with(10W-40) he says 15W-40 as the engine wearing.Surely 50ks isnt nothing for a big six,I asked that because i was thinking of replacing with fully synetics oil.Any one with suggestion to either the comment or oil one would choose cheers |

I certainly would not be usine thicker oil unless it started to loose it out the back. No In my opinion 50,000 is still a baby, barely run in.

50,000km is "just" run-in.
Use the factory spec-oil (whatever is mentioned in your manual).

your mechanic might be a d1ck h3@d mate. mine still uses 10w50 or whatever gets put in it. its got 338000ks on it. your engine is run in now but it surely isnt worn!
the difference between the two oils is the first one you said is a bit thinner when its cold then the 15w40 which is a bit thicker at cold startup which can cause wear in the first place anyway.

I'm still using the factory spec 15w/40w in my Falcon and it has done 201,000kms. Worn, nah.

If you were talking about something from er, directly north of here or an GenIII, maybe at 100k you'd start using thicker oils. I know people who have well over 200k on their E series and AU's. And those cars never, I repeat, never need a top up.
Just clocked over 100k on my own AU and it does its 15k without even a slight drop in oil level. |

Mines topped 301,000km in the VP Still use the same oil no top ups. But i use GTX2 and it was suggested too go maybe a thicker oil. But If it doesn't chew oil or smoke why change it?.

In fact I would think it wasn't even "just" run-in. |
