Default Discontinued parts

Through my work as a panel beater I get to hear a few interesting things from the dealers about parts supply.
Just thought I'd let you all know tat the EF / EL sedan boot lid is no longer availabe, and ages ago I found out that EA / ED 1/4 panels are also unavailable.

www.ozeparts.com.au should have EF/EL bootlids and EA-ED quarter panels.

I remember on a tour through the Ford plant a few years ago, there were stockpiles of E-Series panels and said when there is sufficient demand they crank up the old presses to stamp some more. Not sure if thats still the case?

It was a tour just before the BA was to be released, and people initially thought the panels were for them

And yet they still make the crappy XD doorhandles...
For $35 you get one that lasts about a year. Whereas the $15 taiwanese ones i bought from autobarn are still like brand new 2 years on...

Depends on the parts, the quantity the sell in and how many models they cover... The more common parts that ford can make money out they keep supplying.

I've never really had trouble getting parts for the EA. It's more the cost of some of those parts that's the problem! That's where Repco comes in handy though!

I remember talking to a spare parts guy at Binks Ford in Footscray in the early 80's about when Ford actually stop producing parts and "discontinued" stock. This was before computers had replaced the old "fiche" He said "you'd be surprised what was collecting dust out the back".. Tried him out with an XRGT steering wheel.. Result... One only Brand New, in Ford box "Brown Bomber" wood-rim steering wheel! (with boss).. From memory around $70.
(also tried shifter & dash part No's, but no luck)

I bought EB GT full set of side skirts and wheel arch flairs when they where being discontinued for $330, sold them a year later for $900. At the same time I could of bought complete front and rear upper and lower bumper bars for $600 the lot, but I was an apprentice and could not afford them.
