Toyota to recall thousands of Lexus models due to engine defect
From correspondents in Tokyo From: AFP July 01, 2010 10:32AM TOYOTA Motor will recall one of its top-of-the-line Lexus sedans worldwide because of an engine fault, a report said. Tens of thousands of Lexus LS460 models will likely be affected by the recall, the Nikkei business daily said without citing sources. A Toyota spokesman declined to confirm the report. The Nikkei said that no accidents have been reported in connection with the fault, which causes the engine to stall unexpectedly. Toyota was examining other models that use the same engine to see if they are also affected by the problem, the Nikkei said. The world's largest automaker has been hit by a series of safety recalls and has pulled around 10 million vehicles worldwide since late last year.

Ouch...not a great time for Toyota to have another recall, and just when we thought it was all over.
Number 1 auto maker? Maybe not for long? Let's see if current trends indicate otherwise.
