I think the boot/taillights make it look a little bit like a Vectra. Actually the whole car has a similar shape to the Vectra, especially how the bootlip blends into the taillights with a kink.

Had a good look at the 380 VRX today as part of road show.
Most impressed with the instrument cluster and console.
Split fold rear seat not available in the 380.
Centre rear seat is only suitable for a child.

The 380 is set for its public unveiling on October 13 at the Sydney motor show, a milestone some believed would never come.

Ewan Kennedy gave it a pretty bad review saying its a pretender doesnt deserve to be associated with sports performance in any way at all, also said Front drive large cars will never compete with Com or Falcon.

Thats funny - I've got the very review in front of me and he doesn't give that impression at all, in fact I thought it was rather positive.

Its titled "Class act, inside and out" says "Mitsubishi also said this was the best mass produced production car ever built in Australia. This is a hard claim to prove, or disprove, but we've spent a lot of time looking at both the car and the Adelaide factory that produces it and the new Mitsubishi 380 is certainly a class act inside and out. Panel fit is tight and even, paint finish near flawless.... Mitsubishi's designers and engineers have put an impressive amout of work into their new 380"

It was also Mitsubishi, not Ewan, that says it's not a competitor to falcon or commodore. Weird.

Im reading a different article to that one.
To be fair to Ewan he was refering to the 380 GT in the article i read in the local paper titled "Thumbs up to 380".
His words: "the GT is a GT by name only", " there is a risk that the mitsubishi GT will be seen as a pretender", "its the GT tag that worries us".
He later goes on to say power figures seem "relatively high" compared to how it feels.. "this isnt a sports sedan, not even with the firmer suspension".
He compliments the built quality and refinement but i guess pointing out a 175KW front wheel drive large sedan isn't a sports sedan isnt exactly surprising..

Haha, well considering I'm living on Sydney's North Shore, I'm sure the 380 will probably be over-represented around here by the conservative, 50+ types.

If the 380 doesn't sell, i think it will be the end for Mitsubishi in Australia.
There are a lot car industry workers hoping this car makes good sales.

Agreed.

Most new cars these days are pretty decent looking etc, moving forward with designs etc and .. I dunno .. always leave me impressed

This one just looks like a magna with a few little tweaks.. doesn't look anything like the 'entirely new car' they talked about for the lead up.

Yes I know it's NOT a magna with tweaks, but it DOES look like it.
