A tool bag with socket set, spanners, screwdrivers and a hammer. Why? Because it's a Ford and you never know when you might need to come to the rescue of someone else, or even yourself!

Breakdown kit including coolant, jumper leads, basic socket set. Tiedown straps, spray oil for unplanned BBQs, and a car magazine incase none of the breakdown stuff is of any use, and I have to wait for the cavalry.

I'm just gladdened to see so many people who, like myself, don't believe the hype that leaving stuff at home like what we have all listed here would in any real way impact your fuel economy...in fact, I would wager that even fifty kilo's of extra gear wouldn't be noticeable on normal street driving.

So many items that are common to all (eg, jump leads, first aid kit), yet some quite different (eg, sticks of babmboo).
Usernametaken has inspired me to post a new question, thanks dude.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed.

3 empty 2L coke bottles, some dish washing gloves, half a roll of dodgy super cheap auto 4mm wire which is unwound all over the boot, some swarf in the boot carpet and my tools for work.

The empty coke bottles I used to fill with water for my windscreen washers, but I CBF filling them up, the roll of wire was used for adding an earth to my headlights when I changed them to HIDs, but I CBF taking the roll out, the swarf is in there from my toolbox catching it and coming out in the boot, the gloves were when I first got the car, so I didn't get diesel from the pump inside the car, they melted together in the boot when I went to fill up so I never bothered to wear them.

The tools go in and out for work, thats about it, thats the only reason they're in there.

If something for some reason ever ends up in the boot thats where it lives for the rest of its life.

If I break down I can entertain myself for a few minutes by banging the empty coke bottles together, when I get bored of that I can short out the battery with the roll of wire to make heaps of smoke for some lulz.

Then I'll take my tools out and start walking, who can fix modern cars on the side of the road?

In my Falcon I'm going to get a spare belt, 20L of water and some ratchets/spanners/sockets to keep in the back.

A pretty heavy bag of tools and a spare belt lives in the back of my wagon, would rather have them where and when I need them, instead of being stuck miles from home without them.

Space saver tyre and the toolkit and jack it came with. Only mod is a cutoff of a coke bottle for oil. Roadside assistance for everything else

My muffler so if/when I get pulled over I'm on the way to the exhaust shop ...

And water, had a car in front catch fire once and put it out with a few litres of water, never leave home with out it now.

LPG tank (for obvious reasons)

Roll of duct tape

Bag of Cable Ties

Pair of Pliers

Can of wd 40

Socket wrench ( after owning the car for 6 months I discovered the factory wheel brace is too big to fit in the nut holes on the the alloy rims)

Not sure why I left the socket wrench in there, it's my Wife's car and she can't lift the spare out anyway!! That's what I pay RACQ for....
