Sure, insert RAM/F150 or whatever you want. Also long as you new actually in the market for a new dual cab.

![]() All the above I agree re the dual cab fors and against, specially for the wife. Mine actually loved being behind the wheel of the hilux (little does she care above all the faults/brakes etcetc) but the CX5 ticks all her box's and pretty much the type of car you'll end up for Nanny PG. They also have their fors and against but the everyday mummy's/nanny's mean of transport that all that matters.

If a bunch of tradies half coked up on a Monster energy drink, who have been on the **** the night before and have laden their dual cab past the OEM guidelines for GVM and distribute can keep it together then Id hazard a guess and say must normal people and Mums doing the shopping will be OK.

Good luck with that. No one wanted them 10 years ago, that's why they are now dead. If you don't like dual cab utes, don't buy one. Simple. ****ting on people who do like them is just childish. Simple fact is the number who do greatly outnumbers the ones who don't, hence the sales figures. You are free to buy whatever you want, or in many cases, not buy one cause you couldn't even afford a new one anyway, and whinging about it makes you feel better. ![]() |

What will take both car seats and have room for the shopping that can also cover point 1? Whatever you buy will still come with compromises, there is no 1 box ticks all if it needs to be able to fit 2 seats with enough room for shopping that has enough boot space to accommodate something that only a Falcon ute could and where you going to put that funky stuff now? Surely a dualcab with a canopy covers the seats and shopping with a trailer or your Falcon ute for the big or funky items. |

As I said, my post was about my experiences with Dual Cab ownership. I posted it up to give some input from first hand experience. With the dual cab, if we do buy something larger I cannot take the car seats out and fold down the back seats. About 12 months ago, we bought some outdoor bar stools and couldn't get them all in the tub. I grabbed my wagon and folded down the back seats and they fitted easily. A dual cab canopy is not secure enough for my liking. This is probably a discussion for another time. For anyone who knows me personally, it is a running joke, I hate towing stuff. I am not saying that Falcons are better. As I said, I was conveying my experiences and the other cars that I have are Falcons. What will I buy to replace it? I was hoping for a Ford Everest, but with a 12 to 18 month waiting time I'm not interested. You never know, the new Ranger may be a less of a compromise in our circumstances and we may well end up in another dual cab. |

Begs the question, why did you buy it originally?

I'm also I'm a no tow anything type, box trailer here and there years ago but s tuff it couldn't be bothered.
I'm also a naughty dual cab ex owner that when items too long or large I do it anyway. Leave tail gate down, whatever can hang past the tailgate tied down. Also dual cab had a hardlid, hate the canopies so always a hardlid. Whatever was too high I just leave the hardlid up and drove home, use an occy to hold the hardlid down on the item but having a towel to avoid any damage. Main thing was the dual cab did near on most things I needed to get done. For the wifes shopping I fixed a piece of timber behind the wheel arch humps so all her stuff wouldn't fly forward when I braked late haha worked a treat. What ever you end up buying won't tick all the box's as well, nothing ever does but most is enough. I'm with you PG re wait times, couldn't be bothered, so much can change between 6 to 15mths - low k pre owned is the go to. Recently I was in similar position about what to buy that covered my wants and compramise's. Name down for the V6 Adventura, prior to be advised I'm in for the first allocation I had already asked myself do I really want another Dual Cab, nope, pulled the pin even easier when they said 6/12mths I made the right call in the first place. Done it twice of late.

Fair question.
Circumstances were different. We didn't have to worry about car seats when we bought it. Keep in mind, we didn't buy it until both kids had their licences as the son is well over 6ft. I had one for work and liked it. I had the previous model and I hated it. We thought we would do more 4x4ing in it than what we have. Once again, circumstances have changed with work etc. I knew that the tub was a compromise when we bought it, however, whenever I have needed to use it as a ute, it has not suited my needs. I had to pick up an electric reclining chair the other day. I knew it would be heavy so I took the Falcon ute so I didn't have to pick it up as high to get it in the tub. I am not saying dual cabs are rubbish, in fact, our dual cab has been fantastic generally, it just has not suited our needs. |

Not everyone has a falcon ute or wagon as a back up though so many people would have to arrange alternative methods for large items regardless of what car they have, so bit unfair to critisize a dual cab too heavily for not being able to take larger items. It's like saying sedans are rubbish today because I used to be able to fit a 44gallon drum in the boot.

Ram is a bit big for offroading in the bush though.
The BA gets scratched to the **** on the sides where I've been, can only imagine something a foot wider.

That TF Rodeo isn't on its side (Like the dual cab Navara in WA that got hit by a motorbike), and the driver isn't dead either (like the Navara driver is). Why do you think that might be? I guarantee if I iced a modern hi-rider Thailand Special it'd be either on its side or upside down with how I hit that TF Rodeo. Thats because the modern Thailand Special is rubbish on stilts, watch the DCOA monthly compilations and watch them all lift off the ground in stacks, same with SUVs. |

Both driver and rider died, and it's very doubtful that the bike was doing the anything like speed limit for that piece of road. So can we just leave it there please? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-05-...erth/102320100

Its just more numbers on paper as far as I'm concerned, someone goes out, someone comes in, the world keeps on spinning. Even if the bike was going well over the speed limit, it still only weighs 150-250kg. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 15-05-2023 at 07:15 PM. |

Come on Franco, surely you can't be that naive?
Are you a crash forensic officer? You have no idea of the events surrounding the accident. You can't just pluck pictures off the interweb and use them as some kind of evidence to try back up your personal theories. If you want to put forward something credible, do some credible research.

I've even thrown up evidence where I t-boned someone at a decent pace, and it still didn't flip the car. Yet we've got a Navara on its side with a chassis rail punched in like a banana that was hit by a motorbike - you don't need to be a mensa candidate to realise that a high centre of gravity means its way more likely to tip over. |

Honestly whilst I've enjoyed reading Francos rants before and had a chuckle at them , here he is just coming across as a total flog.
Making comparisons between 2 accidents and not even seeing one of them shows he honestly has no idea. The slightest different thing in any environment involving physics can change the result completely. Did the Navara end up rolling because the bike actually went under it and launch it as the back wheel went over the bike where the focus hitting the rodeo bounced clear? Impossible to say unless you see it all and have a degree in physics. I had mates that worked in a panel shop and I'd drop in too see them. Used to see many cars destroyed and filled with blood that the occupants get taken to hospital but walked out the next day and see other vehicles that looked like a carpark bingle but they were actually a fatal. Too many variables to make a call. |

Before I close the thread for incessant rambling perhaps Franco could define 'a decent pace' ?
"I t-boned someone at a decent pace, and it still didn't flip the car."

Not to mention, we also don't know details on the Bike crash he is comparing it to. The speed of the bike, as well as other important details, haven't been released, AFAIK.
