I took a quick look at that link(dunno why but I did), however couldn't see any falcons that the conversion had been done on. Pics are mostly of LHD cars, and one white VT? that looks like the boot is almost falling off of.

Did you see the note to convex group after the list of titles? Seems like something I'd be wanting to steer WELL clear of.

The design works.

But you do kinda stuff up the storage space of your boot. They're massive 'C' links that need to drop right into the boot to open...

And you'd best hope nothing in the boot moves whilst you're driving. Having a suitcase slide off another and jamming in would be a paid for the VT driver (no folding seats!)

But really, at what stage is it better than the original 'hinge' style opening?
Be different, sure. But only if it is more efficient than the original.

its an interesting idea thats for sure but as said u would need a diffrent way of doing it like it was connected to the top bak of the boot like the original would be best but im not technicly minded enough to do that **** what about a boot thats cut in the middle and opens out left and right would that be more feasible to all u engineering nuts out there?

Put hinges on the end of the current boot lid arm and bolt that to the bootlid.

Put in a bracket to stop the bootlid moving more than horizontal when open.

How about something like the dual acting Mercedes boot lids on the hardtop SLK convertibles – the one panel opens front to back to let the roof down and back to front to let you in to the luggage.
