So, today my wife and i had a garage sale to sell most of our stuff off as we're moving interstate and trying to keep transport costs down, an elderly man bought my recliner off me and me and the mother in law had just started to carry it down to his place about 4 doors up when we hear a series of loud bangs crunching metal. /insert pics now.
6, 16 year olds who decide they should borrow the drivers mums car to go buy fish and chips for lunch. our street has an S bend just before my house they hit the rear end of a magna that was sitting in the neighbours driveway and took out 3/4's of my front brick fence with up to 100kg chunks landing up to 6 metres away. The kids all escaped without any serious injuries but it could have been alot worse as there are alot of ppl that walk along our street . insurance assers are coming tomorrow to asses the damage, we were also just that night before considering holding the sale in the front yard, i'm now glad we didn't. i'll be calling the local council on monday to get something don e about the street as this in the 3rd serious accident in 12 months because of that s bend in the street. Also my wifes parents car was also parked right in front of my house but on the oppisite side of the street and escaped undamaged. Apologies for the wall of text and poor grammer and such but i cbf'd fixing it. |

Jesus....no serious injuries you say...bloody lucky! Musta been doing a decent speed for that one eh....Good to see that only a Magna and a wall were hurt. Might teach some sense to the driver even though he was unlicensed and underage :

now I am not saying that the s bend is not dangerous, and nor do I know much about the accident, but out of pure speculation, I am inclined to state that for this accident that being an inexperienced driver he/she would have been going to fast for the bend (not necessarily speeding) and turned it over. My brother was doing a u turn doing UNDER the speed limit and managed to overturn my dads 88 corolla. Given enough acceleration around a bend or turn, introduce a kerb and a car can flip over. Now I am not saying that is what happened, just what I think would have happened, given the info and what experience/knowledge (as little as it may be) I have.

Those kids are lucky to still be alive... I would hate to think what speed they were doing in a residential street...
More so, you are lucky to not have been out the front when it happened!

When i was speaking to the police, they said from looking at the skid marks and general assesment of the crash, they were doing between 80-100km/h, i have no doubt that inexperiance was a major contribution to it just annoys me now i have to get a new fence built and im due to leave to head to QLD in a week.

No doubt they were speeding, but just for those of you who think a car needs to be going fast to flip, take a look at this idiot:

main thing is no-one was killed, if someone had of been killed more than likely would have been some innocent person on their morning walk. |

Did you sell them anything at your garage sale. Common sense perhaps?

I will proberly be trying to sell them some bricks though, the police gave us their address and they only live in the street around the corner so they didnt get far at all. i would say a total distance of 400-500 metres. from my place to theirs.
