Just been given a link to this car that's currently for sale on ebay...http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2003-BA-B...ht_1108wt_1271
This is the same car...http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...ighlight=wagon If you are bidding on this, please refer to the build thread and check that everything has been done correctly and legally.

Everything else aside, the 90000+km odo discrepancy between the build thread and the eBay add would be enough for me to walk away.....

Just had a look at the thread and spat a mouthful of water all over my laptop after reading Buggo's first reply.

Been trying to sell it since may - and yes the difference between odometer in build thread and the advertised odometer.... bit concerning....
Though the ebay advert does say "show 101,000km" which is infact true - it is showing 101,000km... doesn't meant thats what it's done... but that is what it is showing... The problem is the line later on down the track that reads: "XR6 instrument cluster that was set by FORD and has genuine 101xxx KMS Previous owner happy to confirm the km are genuine" Might have a little issue with that one... nice looking car though all the same.... if only someone had an XR8 wagon (replica) floating around I could look at buying.......

I definitely wouldn't buy from looking at that... looks far too dodgy to me.

I think I like this part the best
It is a wagon so they did not make XR6 the original owner that I swapped with has a friend that works for FORD so all parts are genuine and off later models, for example dash is totally out of a BA mk2 2008 model with in dash dvd player etc. Seats are out of 2008 model. Everything is genuine Ford and is the more expensive items. Services would have no doubt been done if they were spending this kind of money and old owner is happy for me to give his number to chat to winner

How TF is that "Genuine one owner" yet goes on to say "previous owner" numerous times.

Did anyone report the item to eBay before the item ended? Perhaps the Office of Fair Trading? It is illegal to tamper with an odometer or at least misrepresent how many km's the vehicle has traveled if the dash cluster has been replaced-even private sellers.
There is someone out there who has paid too much for the vehicle or perhaps would not have even purchased it if they had been aware of the actual kilometers traveled.

This screams of "gotcha" for the person who wins the auction. But it seems the guy selling it was duped by the person before him who mollestered the car to start with. He must be embarrassed after he realised he was stung, now thinks he can offload it to another sucker.
The price is the giveaway for me. Anything done custom with no expense spared, usually the person who did the work would want a premium. the price to me pretty much says it's shonky. |
