Default Holden ute drivers, are they mad.?

Went for a good drive this week to get the feel of my new Focus sport.
Was tailgated by 4 v8 holden utes and all of them tried to drag race
me. Cant they read badges, S NOT ST. Not a turbo. Wont blow a
modded V8 ute. Also a Mazda 3 wanted a go. Seems they are all a bit
short of the coin in the head. Worst one was a 2 year old Commodore
sedan. Tail gated me on the Gold coast highway, like 2 feet behind me
at 110 kph. WTF is this ****** brain dead or what. I Had 3 adults and
2 kids in the car. Must get an in car camera and record these *******
and pass on to police. They are dangerous especially the sedan driver.

If they're trying to drive faster than you on the freeway, why not just merge into another lane to force them to pass.

There are all sorts out there. Probably should ask a mod to relocate this thread to the pub section.

If you are getting tailgated by so many people you must be doing something wrong. Sounds like a classic case of sitting in the right hand lane @90km/h to me.

I take a different view, certain misfits are attracted to the HP cars and Utes that we mostly like
but these individuals give the rest of us a bad name by acting the goat at every opportunity.
They're the same ones you see popping wheelies in suburban streets, dodging and weaving
dangerously through traffic until the police finally catch them. And then we're all branded the same.

Next time you see one of these tossers, just give them a wide birth, chances are they won't have their car for long...

Use your windscreen water jets. Spray will flow over your roof and onto there windscreen. Really annoys people.

It's a dilemma. I suppose you could take the "S" badge off the tailgate. Then again, because no one knows the significance of a badge that might warn them on mine, I keep getting little "normal" cars wanting to take a crack at me - there are splattered Getzes, Swifts, Pulsars etc etc, all over Perth.

best way to rid tailgaters in my opinion, is a little left foot braking,( just enough so brake lights come on), and a squirt of the accelerator at the same time, you appear to be braking but pull away, the tailgater will brake when they see your brake lights come on, but you won't be slowing!

I don't get many if any cars wanting to "go" unless its when I'm carrying something fragile in the backseat, etc which is quite inconvenient but then again no turbo badge on the back and a lower grill hiding the larger intercooler makes it really look like a bog standard xr6.

You could always get a sticker on the back saying something along the lines of "not looking to compare genital size with you in my extremely slow yet awesome car" or a "baby on board" sign lol

Tailgating on the GC mway is standard practice.
I handle it well in my diesel , drop 4 kms/hr or so off. then the floor the accelerator pouring clouds of black smoke out of the exhaust (a dirty TDCI Focus)-they just back off big time.

Just gently let off the accelerator and gradually drop your speed. That way you just look like another ditherer on the hwy. You won't antagonise them then.

On the M1 all you need to do is use the left lane. Cause no one uses the left lane there. The ute drivers are not looking at your badges. All they want is a car that won't show them up.

... and when I was driving a modified commodore it was the ricer brigade wanting to give me a go. Classic in Canberra a few years back on the way home from work. Me in a cammed 355 VP. Two cocks in a 180sx pull up and ask if I wanna go. I respond by holding up my AFP ID.

Careful as this seems to be a trend now, some people tail gate to speed in order to avoid speed cameras using you to block their regos......

I see this behaviour all the time. I use my GPS to verify my speed and not my speedometer. My car has a 10%+ lower difference between GPS and speedometer. When my speedo indicates 110, the car is actually doing nearer to 100. I come across people sitting in the right hand lane, blissfully unaware of their real speed and it is a tad frustrating having so many people not doing the correct speed. With so many other cars tailgating, your car seem to be the commonality.

What was your reason for not pulling over and letting the other cars pass you?

nahh its holden drivers in general
2 p platers in their bog stock vt's down main north road on sunday
weaving in and out doing at least 100 in an 80 zone
all for nothing when you pull up to them at the next set of red lights
windows down flat peak cap on crooked idiot mates in the back
"didnt see the radar sitting in the medium strip back their huh?"
they look at you in shock
you just pull away laughing knowing he will be in a state of panic for the next hr or so

but v8 holden utes always want a go
i just ignore them and when they tailgate i slow right down

I had someone 2am tailgate me with his fullbeam on so damn annoying especially since the idiot was doing it from way back a few hundred metres, so when he was right behind me I slowed to 80km than accelerated when he tried passing me but eventually let him pass than fullbeamed the *****. I don't usually react to things like that but it really annoyed me

Try a turbo OP, you'll have every 4 banger and cannoned ecotec trying to race you to the merge lane.
